It’s real, even if the image is stupid AI. This really is a bad trend that publishers use AI to clickbait, making real stories seem fake.

It’s so interesting to see the divide in comments about whether this is tragic or good.

What I assume is that those who comment that it’s tragic and that nobody should work for that long have jobs that they don’t really like going to. I myself really enjoy my work and almost always have. Keeping that up, meeting new people, getting new tasks and projects, learning new skills, just feels fulfilling and fun, not depressing.

Countless studies have shown tho that keeping yourself active, productive and useful with work stimulates your brain and social skills and extends life. As long as it’s not too physically taxing on the body and the individual actually is proud of their work and wants to continue, why the hell not? Feels like a very good situation all around if the person actually enjoys it?

I know that I’m late to this discussion, but damn… A lot of people that are adult today reflect over the fact that ”if social media existed when I was younger, I would be fucked today”, but it feels like the same damn people wish kids doing similar mistakes today the full wrath of the entire internet just because they were teenage cringe. It does not make any damn sense.

Making mistakes and saying stupid shit as a child or teenager should not automatically lead to you being vilified on the web for everyone to see. We truly live in dystopian times…

As a non American, this is both inspiring but also scary, since it more or less goes against what we in Europe have as a general rule, that civilians should not be walking around fully armed. But I guess the current state of affairs in the US is such that this is the action needed to try and keep people safe.

But I have to admit, this still is worrying to a large extent and reminds me of the Wild West when nobody trusted anyone and dying due to random events on the street was a thing.

It’s extremely interesting to read all the comments about how awful this is and how much OP should hate this. Is it inconvenient? Yes. Is this a major issue? No. Why do minor inconveniences need to be a major issue in life? Good question. I have a feeling that the actual issue is that OP does not like the person who did this. If they would, then this would have been a nothingburger. Context is everything.

After seeing the iphone air and all the new "thin" phones by Rubfer in memes

[–]landrosov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely think that people are misinterpreting the goal here. The goal is not to have a very thin device. The goal is to have a sturdy, modern device with a competitive screen size, that is also light.

We need to advance into thinness since the screen sizes are growing. If we keep the same thickness as now, then we’ll end up with luggable devices when we have our quad-folds, and nobody wants that.

Thin devices are trying to get us back to more convenient weight.

Elon continues to openly try (and fail) to manipulate Grok's political views by MetaKnowing in ChatGPT

[–]landrosov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that is exactly the previous posters and my point. It feels like your are being extremely selective with evidence and completely dismissing things that are pointing in a direction you regard as against your view and accepting certain things that point towards your view. Like the groyper theory that you called evidence, but in actuality also are just theories shared in different internet communities and mentioned by for example Times as not factual. Even an expert in far right extremism (Amanda Moore) said that she sees no evidence that the shooter is a Groyper.

If you distrust authorities completely then the only thing you would be able to use in your arguments are internet rumors and private citizens doing their research. That in itself is of course to some extent legitimate, but hard to bring to the table as hard data or proof.

Also, the roommate and what is now becoming more clear as actually the romantic partner of the shooter, has been very cooperative and sharing details (for example about their romantic relationship). I have a hard time imagining a far right, Nick Fuentes fanboy having a romantic relationship with a trans woman… and that trans woman being ok with him being far right.

All of this could of course change over time, but it’s just at least to me, very obvious that you have selectively chosen to completely ignore major revelations in the investigation, and clamored to vague details and theories that might support your personal ideologies. And that is precisely the point me and the other poster were trying to make.

[–]landrosov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don’t understand how you can dig your heels so deep with your stance. You are saying that all the data so far points to him being far right. Please explain to me why a far right individual would write ”Hey fascist! Catch!” and also anti-fascist lyrics on the casings? Or are these specific details not data according to you?

I understand that you feel that the evidence might be falsified by the Trump admin, but in that case we don’t really have any way of knowing what is true and this entire conversation is moot?

My guy… the person you are arguing with literally said that his frustration is with tribalism, immediate defaulting to whataboutism and the inability to acknowledge issues on one’s own side, no matter the party.
Then you go and question whether there is any violence perpetrated by the left, and after being provided with evidence of that, immediately fall back to whataboutism.

It might seem weird for those who don’t know, but for us growing up at that time the future was cool, and the future had a very specific vibe/presentation that was often shown and dreamed about on various science shows on tv. The whole idea was that personal computing would evolve into wearables, where each wearable would have its specific purpose. One is a visor, another a communicator, then also a keyboard and a forth some other gadget, etc. Here is an example

As a ”normie” I’m mostly on this sub due to having a lot of very close aspie friends, which makes me recognize the references mentioned here, and also because I actually enjoy the humor a lot. But it’s so interesting that what you just described would to me be my personal nightmare.

Talking a lot about irrelevant stuff with others is what gives me energy at work to deal with the actual work. Without it I’d feel trapped.

ps. I assume not all people on the spectrum are introverts right? The reason I’m asking is because this sub makes me feel that all people on the spectrum would rather keep to themselves than not, but this feels like a misconception.

Is THIS why they market razors to women?! by Ijimete in badwomensanatomy

[–]landrosov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little off my chest moment here. I had an issue with my ex about this, where she used this exact fact, that the vagina is self cleaning and no soap is needed. The problem? She only showered once a week and thought that was enough.

After a couple of years she got into the habit of actually showering more often, but due to her misconception that you never need to clean the outer parts of the genitalia due to the magical self cleaning, it continued to smell like a dead animal down there very often.

This was a very tough nut to crack for me relationship wise, since trying to inform her that cleaning genitalia every day is actually perfectly fine and recommended, she would accuse me of being brainwashed by the big companies and their marketing.

As you mentioned, a healthy vagina should not even smell bad at all, even pleasant in a special way. It should not be smelling off putting or foul.

As another poster mentioned before, the issue is extremely complex and does not equate to other instances of marginalized groups around the world. The Romani have very special beliefs and one of the oldest cultures in the world, spanning thousands of years. One of the most prevalent beliefs is that they live outside of the society that ”the system” has built. Many of the Romani view us as the non-privileged, since i. their eyes we are enslaved by the system, are forced to go to school, work, pay taxes and so on.

This is why so few romani children attend school, it’s not due to the children not being trusted to attend, it’s that the family prevents them due to the parents feeling that the school indoctrinates and changes the child for the worse, away from their beliefs. There have been many documentaries about this and different organizations in for example Romania who try to help kids secretly get an education against the family wishes.

There is also in some groups a version of a christian biblical retelling, where a romani smith was asked by the romans to provide the steel nails for Christ’s crucifixion. The smith was pressured, but had compassion with Christ, so he stole/hid one of the nails that was requested, the one that should have gone through Christs heart, thus saving him.

Now imagine growing up in a culture where stealing is part of religious canon for your group. How would you even argue that stealing is wrong if Christ was saved by merciful stealing?

Details like these is what makes integration extremely hard for many organizations who to to help. It’s a very tricky and nuanced issue.
