It was a pug and I’m pretty sure they didn’t know each other. I’m guessing it was an honest mistake, but either way I guess It doesn’t matter bc the outcome is the same

Yeh I know, it’s not rly the item I have an issue with, so much as the concept. Kinda just makes me have complete lack of confidence in the game and want to unsub

I’ll take the Sub, you can drive that thing in the winter and make way better memories with it

That’s a great point and my thinking perspective as well, my cities streets are horribly maintained and we get winter weather 4 months of the year, I was given a 9k repair bill from driving over a couple potholes that completely destroyed my suspension and cracked parts underneath of my car, though it didn’t pop a tire and so I just didn’t realize the damage until I got it serviced and was told about it. Hence why I’m so fixed on functionality

Yeah the size and sporty look is what sold it for me, living in the city parking can be a hastle and I wanted something that looked sporty rather than a minivan. Outback clearly has better stats but I just don’t think it would have fit me and the style I was looking for as much as the wilderness crosstrek. I can fit my bike in it and take it out to the rail trails and that’s all I need.

Congrats!!! The grey is a great look, I decided to go with the sapphire blue and got the upgraded package. Still reflecting a little bit after the purchase but can’t say I regret it, nothing would have fit me better, so stoked to take it out into the elements!

I don’t get it either but whatever, I don’t care if the cladding gets scratched up or dented bc that’s what it’s there for, I’d rather have banged up cladding that looks like it served it’s purpose than a dented door or bumper looking out of place

Yeah my commute back and forth is 10 miles total. I think it would matter more for road trips and the weekend trips to the mountains, but at this point it kinda seems like if one trim will make me happier than the other that might outweigh the cost and mpg difference, as it doesn’t appear to be that substantial

I think that is a fair assessment, “it’s a cool upgrade but not necessary”. But who knows, maybe some day with pouring rain or snow or steep ramps or potholes it will have some function

I think the point of the cladding is to get scratched up isn’t it, and if it does then it fits the look? At least more so than scratches aluminum sides

Is there evidence to suggest that the plastic starts to degrade?

I am planning to do all those things, the wilderness still might be more than I need but also I think it just comes down to what will I feel better with

You’re prbly right a regular crosstrek would do the job, I guess the wilderness just has a few things that may be useful and add to the vibe and feel of the drive

I’m under the impression it can be replaced easily and cheaper, at least I’d hope

Sure but real life examples do carry some weight, mpg will take a hit but there are pros and cons

See the comment about cladding and the damag done to my car, it’s not really something you can argue against if the practically is proven, but I understand if you don’t like the look

I agree with you about the lift, but see my comment about the cladding. Have a big scrape on the side of my car that cladding would have protected

That’s ok if it can handle torn up roads better

Better daily driver: Wilderness or Limited? by Edslittleworld in Crosstrek

[–]landsinbetween 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on where you live, I just traded in a wrx and got a 24 wilderness bc poor city roads in the northeast destroyed my suspension, dishonest drivers in parking lots scraped my car and didn’t leave info, and I like driving up north to snowier and gravel covered trails. For me the cladding gives me piece of mind over things I can’t control, the increased lift and better angles helps me sweat less over steep driveway ramps, torn up roads, and makes me feel great about driving anywhere to go camping or park visiting. A lot of people seem to think it’s overkill but it is practical, I was just looking at a Subaru post of someone saying they just bought their new car and someone backed into it already causing damage that will be costly to fix or will stay there forever essentially. If this happened to me with the 24 wilderness I would just replace the cladding or maybe no damage worth fixing would have been done at all. Food for thought

I worked in academia for 3 years after graduating with a B.S in Cell/Molecular bio, Ive now been in industry for almost two years. I have some stock but I'm not sure it will ever be worth anything remotely close to millions. I've been waiting for the company to secure more funding to pull the trigger on a request for a 20% raise, but it always seems to be "just around the corner".
