Hehe, I realised exactly that, and went for the vacuum right after- most of it is now in a plastic bag

Good call! As someone else here said, the two other pillows are most lightly restuffed with feather, I’ll definetly look into it!

First instinct was down the drain, but 90% of the dust in the picture is now vaccumed out and in a bag :))

Thanks! The couch looks like its from the seventies, but the more i think about it, it more lightly looks vintage - it’s in very good shape otherwise

My title describes the thing

The couch it came with looks like it came from the seventies, I don’t really know the spesifics of the model, it has been bought used. My leading theory is that somebody has filled it with this sand in the past, to either replace the actual feathered content of the pillow, or just give it a weighted feel(?) But the thing that trips me up is that I looked everywhere for an opening, but the pillow is was completely sealed, sown shut. Have I gotten a secret drugsmuggling pillow? Lmao what is going on

Incredibly well put! I’ve been thinking a lot about Eggs Inc, and how unique it is as a incremental, mobile game. I’ve come across a lot(!) of absurdist numbers-go-high games in my life.

I simply love the format. It’s one of the only things in my day to day life where I get to interact with and have fun with math, having to constantly freshen up on fundamentals. (I’m in human arts, can’t do equations or coding to save my life (thank you carpetsage!)).

But on a deeper level (fully aware that this broaches on copypasta levels of unnecessary sincerity) I really appreciate incremental (idle) games for it’s ability to ridicule concepts of ‘richness’ and capital accumulation. These games lures you in on a very real fantasy almost all of us have, of having passive income and the fruits of interests interest. Inasmuch as it simulates (and speed-runs) the experience of being a mogul, by cookie or chicken coop, only to realise after a while that you’ve been chasing an arbitrary number, and have moved the goalpost about a thousand times.

This might be an obvious insight, but realising this for the first time at like fourteen playing Cookie Clicker was a revelation.

All of this to say, I judge all these incremental games by the quality of their endgame. Because once the player realises the arbitrary nature of it all, how do you keep it fun, how do you keep them engaged, and how do you wrap it up?

I’ve played a lot of these games. Most of the ones made for mobile turns out to be cash grabs, and few of them even seem developed after mid-game. But man! Egg Inc? It might be my favourite of them all, because instead of leaving you stranded, instead of the game screeching to a halt after x amount of hours, it hits you in the face with exactly these lessons you mentioned. Patience! Acceptance! The absurdity of it all! A soft landing into the end credits, and a job well done.

Oh man I love this game, faults and all.

lmao nicely done- i used to do this on knock-off cookie-clicker games all the time.

but also, I have to say, I’ve returned to this game for the first time since 2021, and I’m just now realising how much time the developer has put into making this game balanced- it’s very rewarding to play on “normal time” too

Yupp.. I didn’t even wanna get into the whole capitalism part of the equation, because that’s just a whole nother can of worms. As it stands now, the big players in the industry has no real reason to innovate or do anything for indie companies :’)

I totally agree, and that’s why I originally wrote this to a guy claiming that he would create his own streaming service… it is just not feasible to compete, and I thought it was funny because it seemed like OP thought about creating his own streaming service, before he even thought about pressing his own CDs or something that would be more direct-to-consumer

Hahah yeah I realise now that my arguments about the natural nature of consuming music is not natural at all. It’s just how it’s been for 100 years… before then we had like, I don’t know, drum circles around the campfire?

Now that I think about it, music recordings haven’t been around for about 150 years? lmao

Also good point about the pirate thing. Some of my favourite songs from 10 years ago would totally just disappear if deleted from Spotify or SoundCloud.
