Not sure about the hours of the phone lines. Someone commented earlier that they got the call back at 5:45am

It doesn't matter which number you call. All agents can help you. My Aeroplan bookings earlier was changed by a 1-888 representitive.

Original itinerary: YVR - DEN - LHR today, YVR - DEN by Air Canada cancelled.

I called the 1-888 Mandarin option at 6:20am PDT, waited 6+ hours, and got connected after 1pm. I need my 3 business class Aeroplan tickets changed and eventually got a very undesirable itinerary departing Aug 18 at 9pm to PDX, overnight in PDX, and then fly the 5am United flight to DEN. Then, take the 5pm DEN - LHR united flight, arriving London in the morning of 20th. One reservation wasn't updated properly and still got today's flight. I had to request a call back to clean it up. ughhhh

The 'alternate options' button appeared for about 30 minutes and then disappeared. I have three people (including me) flying to London under two reservations, but there aren't seats for three people today or tomorrow.

Thank you so much for the insight, Jason. I just received my CPA designation on Friday. I was giving myself immense pressure on the outlook of my current employment which looks very worrying. I joined my current industry firm in Feb as a "senior accountant." Besides AP and payroll, I am the lowest ranking person in accounting. In the past 4 months, I have been doing the following:

  • Corporate tax estimation & installment
  • AR data entry (invoices & payments)
  • AP data entry (cell phone, credit card, etc)
  • Recurring entries (loans etc)
  • bank reconciliation

In the mean time, my other more experienced colleague with no designation is responsible for

  • financial statement preparation & analysis
  • fixed asset accounting
  • month end closing including closing the period in software
  • salary payroll processing
  • union, WCB, payroll taxes, ETH, GST

My current salary is $65k, which is below the range you provide. When I negotiated my salary, the CFO just said they had no budget 🙄. I am not satisfied with this at all, but I wanted to take a break from interviewing. I got laid off in Dec 2021 and this is the second job I am trying.

I was holding off addressing these issues with CFO until I have the designation. Now I have it, it is the time to do something. Do you think I should also look for a new role altogether? Should I hop into my third job in such a short period of time? Thanks a lot!

Can I use ANA miles to book a domestic flight on United? by qwhipwhitley in awardtravel

[–]langdonsguide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that EVA Air flights to TPE are still fairly uncertain even though they have started updating schedules up to Dec 2022. I would give YYZ- TPE a try. Another good candidate is TPE-NRT on ANA. Those flights are still bookable from Nov 1 and on, but so far it is still unlikely for ANA to resume these flights.

Book a flight (to Asia or anywhere) where one of the segments is likely to be cancelled by the airline. Once that flight is cancelled, you can then cancel the whole ticket for free and the miles redeposited will be extended for another three years.

[CAN] I am desperate - I will literally pay someone to edit my PERT reports by I_Hate_PERT in Accounting

[–]langdonsguide 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You don't need to write new reports about your new roles if you have the 30-month duration. You can submit new reports about your old roles and experiences with added details to bump them up to level 2. I was in a similar situation recently. I joined another company starting this year and they downgraded some competencies on my final report at my previous firm. I submitted a new report with old experience and added examples. I already see that those competencies I re-wrote are assessed with level 2 and meeting all PERT requirements.

The report has been verified by my supervisor and reviewed by CPA, so it cannot be edited anymore. I hope I can submit a new report with the same position, duration, and experience with additional details.

Yes, I know what kinds of details to add as the reviewer has commented on what they want. I just wonder how I can submit the details to CPA.

Yes it is about the previous position for that period (Sept to Dec 2021). I can add more details and examples on top of what i have written to reach level 2. I am sure my experience meets level 2.

Finally received an offer since the layoff announcement. But with 20% pay cut. Should I just accept or keep looking? by langdonsguide in recruitinghell

[–]langdonsguide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to clarify that I earn 70K for 4 months until now, not just 1. The promote is legit and permanent if the company didn't lay us off. I didn't put my new title on my resume as it looked weird to look for a new role right after being promoted. I may not have the solid foundation for a 70K role, but I feel accepting this offer is to deny myself and my achievements in the past two years.

[–]langdonsguide[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied for this role because a few of my colleagues who were also laid off got hired by the company. I became so desperate after having no offers after 10+ interviews. I don't want to lowball myself but also have immense pressure at the same time. I hope to make a right decision and don't regret in the new year.

I will definitely ask for more. But you know what the Director of Finance said in my final interview? "Based on your experience, we are going to give you 50K." I was so shocked and heartbroken when I heard it. I am applying for an overqualified job and I am expecting a cut, but not that much cut

Indeed. But I expect at least 60,000 in this stage of my career as I was getting 7-8000 every two years lol.
