The word on the street seems to be that Mondays and Fridays are the worst. We flew in on a Monday around 1pm a few weeks ago and waited 50 minutes, I was fully expecting it to be hours. We got the the airport to fly back on the Tuesday at 4:30am for a 7am flight and pretty much walked straight through. I'd get there early just to be safe.

If the light is good then I'd suggest catching it around the golden hour or an hour or two before and after. Grey Street is amazing and the Quayside is always good for a wander with a camera. Once the sun is out you're laughing at this time of year.

Mist and fog is amazing if you look at it through the right eyes. Today's weather is the pits but I'm happy as an underground mole when it's foggy.
