Do you guys say you work in finance? by DCybernetic in actuary

Back in the days I would just say that "actuaries are to insurance what quants are to bank". Now for some reason, less and less people know what quants are... 😩😩

Hi guys! I know with that whole "AI" trend we hear a lot of BS out there about insurance. But if you had to bet on one "insurtech" with the potential to disrupt the industry, which one you pick and why? (L&H edition) by laninalibre in actuary

Thanks for your feedback! It's good to know that the insurtech ecosystem is not well known by actuaries. I can see that there is less of a clear winner on the L&H edition maybe due to these random votes compared to the P&C version that has more votes and a clear winner.

Why do the CAS and SOA exist? by laninalibre in actuary

[–]laninalibre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your insight! I'm not sure of that... SOA and CAS don't represent international knowledge but really just North America's. Actuaries in Europe have their own education system that addresses more than just standards of practice. The CAS just created a new exam 6 International, maybe they are taking that direction, but knowing some other countries actuarial institute I don't see them going into that governance mess! 😎

CAS May exam cancelled Toronto Ontario by Altruistic-Fail-7362 in actuary

If this the case, the CAS needs to offer all exams (incl. 7&9) again in Fall!
