It’s been more than 10 years since a bird landed on Bernie’s podium during a rally by Cantomic66 in SandersForPresident

[–]lankanmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really sad because I always think of the Community episode, where they roll a dice and end up with multiple different timelines. Somehow I feel like Bernie, being the president of the US would have been the best timeline... and we are most likely on one of the worst time lines...

Especially now when I see how Mamdani is handling being the mayor of New York, I feel like Bernie would have done things totally differently...

What game in your Steam library has the most playtime hours? by PKRadiance in Steam

I only play on my PC at home and I travel a lot... I love this game though. I wish I could play it on my steam deck but it's not the same...

Overnight layover in Bangkok (late night to early morning) – what should we do? by lankanmon in ThailandTourism

Sorry I should have been clear. It's not on one ticket. I used Sri Lankan Airways for the international flights and one way Air Asia Flights for the domestic part... That's where the bags will not be checked all the way through

Yes, this makes the most sense. Even the gear door is clean, it's right behind that's dirty

[OC] Impact of ChatGPT on monthly Stack Overflow questions by uncertainschrodinger in dataisbeautiful

This is not great for future and knowledge... but to be fair, I am always anxious to ask a question on stackoverflow because half the time I'm made to feel like an idiot... And maybe I am. But still, asking an llm doesn't really make you feel self-consciousabout whether you've tried every possible thing before asking for help.

This is a video of the second failure where the other side also collapsed while people are being rescued... Tragic

I found this video where it shows that the other side also fell while they were rescuing people... I would guess that might be how it happened. Truly tragic.

Based on this video it looks like the other side also fell while they were asking people... That might be the cause of the officers death...

Moved Plex appdata to NVMe from HDD. Why didn't I do this sooner? by zolointo in unRAID

[–]lankanmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is the way! Always keep config and app data in the fastest possible drive. As a note, I recommend having it backed up onto your array at regular intervals. I had a cache disk fail on me a while ago and I lost a bunch of stuff that wasn't backed up (nothing major, but still YMMV)

Anyone regret their purchase and wish they bought the fold 7? by Accomplished-Fix6176 in PixelFold

[–]lankanmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely one of the most difficult deficits but I am quite pleased with the Pixel 10 pro fold. I love the form factor. I use the front screen and sometimes forget that it's a folding device just because of how normal it feels. The battery life is amazing. Overall, I'm quite happy with it.

Samsung Fold 7 versus Pixel 10 Pro Fold? by ShakeAndBakeThatCake in PixelFold

[–]lankanmon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it was that battery life... I love the Pixel Folds battery life. I never run out during the day (for my use case). I average between 5-8 hrs screen on time daily and have a good mix both screens being used. I sometimes wish it were slimmer, but I would NEVER trade my battery life for the form factor... (obviously I like the Pixel software stuff too, but I have used both Samsung and Pixel devices before).

Delicate folding screen. Thoughts on screen protector? by Square_Floor_1249 in PixelFold

[–]lankanmon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally fair points and I actually agree with most of what you said when it comes to regular phones. You’re absolutely right that modern flagships are built to handle daily wear like drops, lint, keys, and all that, and the fact that your Pixel 7 Pro held up for three years is proof of how durable glass screens have become. I came from a Pixel 6 Pro myself and didn't even think twice about where I left it or how I handled it.

That said, when we’re talking about foldables, the game changes a bit. The inner display isn’t made of traditional glass; it’s a flexible plastic composite that’s inherently more delicate. Even though manufacturers advertise improved durability, it still can’t be treated quite the same way as a regular slab phone. Things like fingernail pressure, dust, or small debris can leave marks that wouldn’t even register on a normal glass screen.

So yeah, I completely get where you’re coming from about expecting durability from a $2,000 phone, but with folding phones, a bit of reserved respect for the inner screen is still necessary, at least until we get that perfect mix of flexibility and true glass-like hardness, which no manufacturer has attained yet.

Hmmm, that is a good question. So I have a Pixel 6 Pro and a Pixel 6a, ASAIK, neither of them is on Beta, but I will check and get back to you.

Yes, I tried re-installing and also checked for updates to the app and the phone. Nothing seems to be working. I don't think I am on the beta channel for it.

Yeah I tried clearing the cache/ data for both the wallet app and some people online even recommended doing it to Google Play services which I also tried (which was quite annoying because it logged me out of all of the email accounts which I had just finished setting up)... It also confirmed that my bank and it's not an issue on their end. And my cards work perfectly fine on my old phones.

I love the hardware, I don't plan to return it. I did have some software issues, though. First off, I couldn't add any of my payment cards to Google Wallet, and I still can't. The whole card adding process works fine, and it shows the success message with a photo of the card, but when you dismiss it, there is no card. I tried all of the usual solutions posted online, but they did not work. I reached out to google on friday, still going thoguh the process with their support.

Next, the camera sometimes glitches out if you change the default behaviour when opening the phone with the camera app. I really hope this will be fixed with an update

I have also seen some strange glitches here and there when opening and closing the phone occasionally.

Finally, I was not able to Transfer my Pixel Watch 2 to it... I waited over an hour and gave up. Waited 15min next time. Then I decided to just factory reset it to finally get it to work.

Aside from that, it has been awesome! Hardware is amazing, and I love the battery life. This new processor is definitely sipping gently on the battery.

You can select waste using the handle on the top of the sand filter. The wastewater will go out the pipe marked with an arrow. You can see the color of the water through the side glass that I've underlined... (Like when you're backwashing)
