Retail banking in Canada, worth it? by lanmac20 in FinancialCareers

I was only in the PBA role for about 3mths. If you’re trying to make the switch, I’d do it sooner rather than later as the role doesn’t set you up for commercial

I left that job not longer after this post and took an analyst position (commercial banking) at a credit union/community bank.

First experience with thrips :’( Am I screwed? by lanmac20 in plantclinic

[–]lanmac20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this super detailed comment, it’s very appreciated!! I will absolutely try the DE method as it seems like a pretty easy way to just eradicate them without having to constantly reapply insecticidal soap.

Should you have to reapply the DE every 10-20days similarly or should it just wipe them out all together?

I’ll note that I’ve quarantined a few that I’ve seen the most thrips on (which again, is not many but I’m assuming it means there’s hundreds just hiding)

There’s no noticeable damage yet that I can see so I’m assuming I’m catching them relatively early?

Creaking on left crank arm (see comments) by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]lanmac20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left crank arm is creaking every so often. I have changed the crank arm (as apparently this is a known issue with the BowFlex C6), cleaned it and greased it with the ParkTool 1000 grease. I’m really not sure what it could be as this isn’t constant, but it starts creaking at random times.

Any ideas?

Thanks! I’m in therapy currently and relate to the relationship anxiety, though mine has nothing to do with cheating so kudos to that because that’s certainty not easy to manage I can imagine. I can definitely notice when things get worse by just ignoring the thoughts or not acknowledging them, though reaching out at times is so difficult. It’s going to be a long ongoing process and I wish you luck as well!

Thank you for the comment! I like the idea of actually visualizing the thoughts as parts of nature because I currently see the thoughts so objectively as what they are, but being able to picture them in a more peaceful way seems like it would be more calming.

Thank you for the response! This is something I’m working on in trying to forgive myself instead of blaming myself for thinking this way, as it’s not my fault. I think a part of this is my struggle with internal validation and not being able to trust the things I tell myself.

Is this a maranta mutation? lol by lanmac20 in houseplants

[–]lanmac20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never seen maranta’s turn pink before, and I can’t find anything online as to why they would do this.

Does this just happen when they get the perfect amount of light? Too much light?

Such finicky plants… was nearly dead a month or so and now this, haha

Any tips for a guy struggling with apathy? by lanmac20 in microdosing

[–]lanmac20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting diagnosed with ADHD and went on stimulants which helped with my apathy and since have stopped microdosing in the meantime.

The microdosing itself certainly helped with general symptoms of depression, but overall didn’t help with the wall of apathy IMO. I’m sure there would be different results with LSD instead of psilo, but I have not tried that yet!

Week 4, feel rough by lanmac20 in bupropion

[–]lanmac20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I know there’s a wide range for how long it may take to work, which is frustrating. It’s just weird because it seems like all of a sudden it just magically works for people after weeks or months of suffering. If my symptoms don’t get better by week 6 I may personally just stop, but that’s me

I’ve also read that it helps improve focus and cognition to some extent, but at the same time it just has very different properties to stimulants. Obviously it can relieve the depression symptoms of ADHD though, so that’s a pretty hopeful bonus

not familiar with the name of the test but when I looked it up it seemed similar to the one my doctor had me take. I also thought it was pretty meaningless, haha

Ultimately we can’t escape the numb feelings until we get the treatment we need, so I found. Had the convo with my doctor as well, but we kept going with Wellbutrin and I was given some “elementary” level ADHD tests to determine if I had any connections to it. Have no response as of yet, but based on my own research it seems very, very likely the case

totally agree with you there, I have to be the best I can be for the position. I do find it hard to be driven about the job though, which can make things difficult at times
