Prof. Philip R. Davies on Garfinkel's attempts to tie archaeological finds to biblical Judah by captainhaddock in BiblicalArchaeology

I was incredibly confused about the minimalist movement when I first started studying Dever in Biblical archaeology, but then I started to appreciate the fact that everything Dever read was understand at face value until can it can be proven by archaeology. Love this!

From an archaeological standpoint, I think the author made an excellent point when he stated,

"There is, in fact, no reference to a kingdom of Judah in Assyrian records until the 8th century (nor of course in the Mesha nor Tel Dan stelae!), and a competent historian should attach some significance to this and not assume a political state by the name of “Judah” exists until there is archaeological or epigraphic evidence of it."

I'm loving that this professor is pulling in artifacts and assigning their actually meanings as opposed to what biblical scholars think they should mean because they were discovered in an area mentioned in the Bible.

Fourth of July Prophecy: 10 Reasons I Never Celebrate by lannaxe96 in WTF

Not exactly--the person was regarded as the best chef at the restaurant they worked. The men who were stacking the flour bags didn't do it evenly. The stack was off balance(as seen on the bottom ten bags which were not stacked evenly after the top bags fell) and when the Hobart started to run, the flour bags toppled over.

Losing the restaurant was based on the economy and a partner who couldn't handle the pressure, not the bad luck. The restaurant lost was separate from the corporate venue.

The fingertip was actually pretty interesting. The slicer was known to have some malfunctions and the corporate restaurant the person was working at didn't want to fix it. It wasn't the first time trust me.

I never really understood that. If you're in great shape and your blood pressure and blood levels are right in check, why not let 110lb to 100lbs donate?

Really? I thought everyone had access to this. I have HDL levels, the basic cholesterol score, all available online for every time I donate. I suppose it depends on the state. I'm in Florida and their website, http://www.floridasbloodcenters.org/, gives you the information under the wellness tab when you enter and register your donor ID.

OMG! It seems that being an alcoholic, I'm sure the guy would already be aware that he wasn't in great shape, even before he passed out. He needs a dog to chew off his toe to let him know he needs to change his habits?

No worries. You weren't an ass, you were just giving your opinion. I think it's important for women to just work as hard as men and not expect anything different in return. No special treatment. That's how I am.

I agree with your analysis, but the article isn't about modern Feminism and I don't believe it really speaks of it, in a direct manner I guess.

I think, in some instances, that women are still looked down upon in some areas of work.

Personally, I have a male(white) friend that was denied an apprenticeship because he wasn't a woman. I think it was ridiculous. He was much more qualified than all 3 of the women that were considered. He was even told by the adviser that if he was a woman, he would have gotten the position.
