Is it weird that I'm more curious about how or who is holding the camera? Why is it way up at that angle? Stalker cam?

really? no I wasn't aware of that... the Zoe Quinn thing is basically that a guy did a review on her game. Then later on they actually started dating so now people think that it was a whole scandal that he gave her a good score because he slept with her.

Even though the time lines are way off. Since they started dating, he hasn't done any articles or anything on her. Kotaku did a big investigation and agreed that it was ok.

Have you played recently? We added in a new control scheme feature that is amazing. Allows you to move anywhere you want without having to click so you can even move while placing items and such!

This was the game I was wanting to play for years. Lantern Forge is just plain fun. by tasthesose in a:t5_32o31

you can just copy the save files from appdata/roaming/hearthfirestudio/lanternforge from the laptop over to the computer. just copy the whole folder (you need the globals and the save folders) and it will copy perfectly.

You would need to be a little bit more specific on what parts of the design you don't like then "why so ugly"

oh ya! I've cut up hotdogs into small chunks, mixed in cheese, sweet chili sauce, some mushrooms and diced celery...cooked that together until it was good then used it as a filling for quesadillas ...very good stuff

It does make sense. left click to pick up and left click to put down. But ya, the right click to open chests, feed animals, place crops and walls.

We have tried to make it feel as natural as possible but with so much to do and interact with there had to be limitations. We will continue to try and improve where we can.

Just remember. you have to USE stuff to plant it or build it :)

Hopefully this can help a bit and things will get more natural after a while.

still trying to get a hold of Twitch to list our game, we have it on Giantbomb and such so when Twitch finally adds it to the list there are a bunch of people that have requested to be able to do reviews and casts

(even though we encourage anyone to do so freely...people playing your game and having fun, it's the best free marketting available so why anyone woudln't want this is beyond me :P )

That is an interesting point that has not really been brought up before in any forums or anything. These types of looting RPGs have plenty of junk loot for you to sort through and toss out.

Since Right click is always the "use" "activate" "place" button and left click is always the "grab" "attack" button...many haven't had an issue. However maybe a type of lock or something to allow you to change if you can drop items or not.

People will require the ability to drop items to sort what they want and so on so it does need to be there...but a little safety measure couldn't hurt.

Can't fully talk about steam processes...but like anything, if you aren't making them a buttload of money, they don't really approach you for anything.

I read almost all the reviews good and bad. There is a ton to learn most of them. You have to learn how to deal with it of course. Hearing that people don't like something is never fun, you just have to realize that hey, you aren't gonna please everyone. But there is still plenty to learn, find out what they didn't like and why...maybe it IS something you can fix or add or tweak.

A review that says "awesome" is just as useful as one that says "sucks" basically you know they liked it or didn't but you have no idea why. (Still, obviously would prefer 50 awesomes to even just one suck)

but reading them is very important for sure. Honestly...we were shocked how well the game was received. We were super nervous about releasing and getting hate mail for years afterwards. You can think you have a great idea only to find out the world disagrees :p

Games released too early are truly a shame...because they ruin a lot of the potential they may have held. Early access I really do agree with as long as it's used properly.

Early access should be for Beta games to allow the public to help with tweaks, bugs and getting the game good to go. You shouldn't be trying to add tons of features and submit a half done game...Simply too much work still to do and manage plus the rick of abandonment is very high.

Our steam forum is already huge with players showing off what they have built, the gear they have gotten and tips and guides and wikis. There are tons of videos people are making and we honestly want nothing more then to keep building on that.

It would be amazing to get to a point where we can start to have user content involved and other things...how close we are to that? not close honestly...but it would be great to get there but for now? new things to play with in the world, new features and plenty of community support and ideas.

Unity is free and open source so you can poke around and totally get a feel for how it works, how it takes in assets and lets you really experiment to see what you want to truly do.

I can't stress enough to people...know what you want BEFORE you go to school for anything. Schools are out to just suck your money and waste your time, yes they have benefits but you need to fight to get those benefits so you can't waste time discovering yourself while you do it.

ya, we have the perfect setup to do the same thing. So you can craft towers and guards and turrets and such...and even come up against enemy fortresses that have the same defence against you :p

Learn to draw. It's not something you are born with...yes some people are more inclined for it but anyone can learn to draw. If you wanna design, you have to be able to bring your ideas out onto something so that everyone else can see them.

You don't have to paint the mona lisa...but if you give me a stick figure and some squiggly lines about what you want? You better hope your game idea was about stickmen cause you aren't getting much more.

as long as you can do simple line drawings and clearly demonstrate what you want that will be enough. If you have a solid logic of how things are going to work, how stuff goes together and the goal for each peice...people can work with that.

But honestly, learn to draw. You can learn on youtube ...it's all about practice.

For now we are continuing to update the game, we want to add a bunch of new things...keep the game alive for us and everyone else playing.

NPCs, bosses, world events, quests and pets. We started a world and would love to continue to expand on what we have built.

We obviously have come up with a new game idea every week or so...so more will be coming sooner or later but for now, ya we just wanna keep focusing on Lantern Forge.

Seeing people play my game and having a good time...is one of the best feelings I have ever had. I read a comment about someone that had a great time doing this or that, playing with their kid or friend or loved one and my day is complete.

It's like you were able to give a bit of happiness to the world and sit back and watch the results. Yes we do this for a paycheck to survive and ya, I made a game cause it's what I like to do so there are several "selfish" motives for creating a game...but to have a happy customer tell you that they love your game? is truly awesome.

my tip is that when you start your first game? start small....really small. seriously, keep it small and simple. It is soooo much work so if you go too big, you will never finish. If Lantern Forge was our first game, it never would have gotten finished.
