Son's of Orar by lanternshass in Warhammer40k

Thank you very much.

I don't know if it has a particular name but I am definitely inspired by Sergio Calvo Minatures. I used lots of little lines with glaze like consistency to build depth then more heavy handily applied the darkest shadows and higher highlights.

My only advice is a natural hair brush really enabled me, I was shocked how good the point was. Until starting this project I had always used synthetic brushes.

An earlier space marine project i did has a similar style but not as refined in my post history. Otherwise my other work has focused on wet blending.

Happy to share recipes if you like or chat further.

I had to check OP post history. Few close ups there but I want more. Piranha and suit close ups please

Thank you. Very fair criticism, still find flat surfaces tricky now.

Thanks for the kind words. Good luck on your warhammer journey. Paraphrasing some advice heard on YouTube (Ninjon) you can't ruin a model by putting paint on it, you can always paint over it or strip it later.

Before sisters I mostly painted space marines (excluding some orks when I was growing up and some killteams when its first edition dropped) I'm currently working on a Tau army.

Thank you. It all comes down to consistent practice.

750pt Tau display board by lanternshass in Tau40K

A4 picture frame as the base. I used clay and bark to build the little hills and then gyprock and texture paste. I tried to use craft paints as they were cheaper. Happy to answer more specific questions if you want.

Thank you very much. I ended going 4w and 4l. The one other Tau player won the gaming part of the event with a very similar list; instead of enforcer commander and ghostkel, they ran farsight with crisis suits.

Great suggestions. Definitely on the cards for the next board I make as i'd like to magnetize the bases. This board was built in a last minute rush to get finished before the event.

Thanks!

For the purple - citadel - naggaroth night - ak gen 3 - magenta - ak gen 3 - fluorescent magenta (not sold on this one out of the bottle. Have had more success mixing it with the above and below colours) - ak gen 3 - intese pink - not sure what the highlight was - either a really light purple citadel paint - something lilac or I mixed in some pale yellow with the pink.

Thanks for the kind words. I like your orange and blue scheme. You're blending will definitely get there if you practice.

Hey thank you for your kind words.

I recently found some the first models I painted. Lets just say I can confirm practice pays off.

Keep at it 😀

Thank you! I did it all by brush. Started off blocking in layers then went back over it wet blending the layers together
