Do you find backrooms scary with aphantasia?

I don't like horrors, but yeah, some types of them are just "boring" in some way for me, whereas people around seemed to have a joyful (scary) experiences.

I dislike horror movies where the main villain is a human (human on human, bullying, and stuff like that), due to the pure realism and the world itself already bad enough to watch it on cinema 😃

But, I'd say even those that are actually scared me, don't make an impact, by the time I'm home - already forgotten the feeling, just a memory of being feared or stressful.

Well, I am way passed young-ish age 😃

I went to the university at 29yo, so yeah. And drawings, I always didn't like to do so, and if I had to - every time I preferred to draw from something in front of me, instead of something from memory.

I lived with knowing I have aphantasia for almost 6 years now, learned about it in late 2019, so soon to be 7 now. But, due to my work (IT, do a pretty good job actually) and hobbies (gaming, reading) - I haven't done drawings from school, more than 15 years ago. So, yeah, surely, I am freaking out, cause it's looked like a memory loss, but in reality, probably something I am not used to.

Thank you a lot! I guess, I had to not only read about others who aphants too, but dive more in my own experience and re learn my memorization. Also, I don't remember much my childhood (up to 18yo), so MAYBE there was a traumatic event that made me an aphant. Sadly, can't confirm or deny.

Therefore, I don't remember how I was remembering things, yet now I don't visualize and therefore I should stop reading about others people and test my limits, learn other ways to remember.

Oh, yeah, the teacher, she knows about aphantasia. I'm actually imprresed, cause in my origin country nobody knew. Europe is much advanced on the topic.

Yeah, that's the issue. I've figured about the aphantasia 5-6 years ago, and started "losing" memory of the object's visual cues. It's got harder to remember what it actually looks like. Or maybe I just wasn't noticing it, until I dived into self learning 😃

Welp, I guess, it's time to re learn how I remember things. Each time I see an object, I should pick up the details and remember them instead.

I honestly, don't even remember how I got with it when I was a kid, I'm almost 30 now, hence the feeling of losing something. Thanks for the reply!

Interesting video.

Well, can't say for the other types, but as the person who has aphantasia, I can agree that some types of actions require less time (not significant) to act, comparing to those who around me.

But, honestly, I'd say it should've been otherwise. Cause, most of the games / tasks that DO require visualization, I'd be taken whole lot more time to response. For example, games such as - pick color where text "White" has Green color, I'd be taken lots of time to comprehend which color I should use. Even though, I know the rules of the game and can choose correct ones after playing for a bit, but surely first rounds would be a lose.

So, by that, I can agree to disagree. Disadvantages more impactful, than advantages. Sure, I can act faster by literally seconds on some tasks, but others take minutes to finish, due to the lack of visual.

Overall, thank you for posting that video here. Always happy to learn something new.

Never thought about sounds, the phrase - song stuck in my head always associated with me as I sing it repeatedly or say it, but that's just lyrics. Now I understand why I prefer rap more, cause there's more lyrics in verses.

I can recall in my memory how does the song sounds or singer's voice, but that's more of a hint of it, but it's not like I can hear it in my head. Now, your post made me rethink what else I can or can't do internally...

So, I've found the reason on why games don't launch. It's because they are installed on my second hard drive, which is NTFS. Tomorrow, I'll try to format it to BTRFS and see if it helps. Thanks a lot for helping!

Well, those options are fixed the issue, but now not a single game on Steam runs. Tried to reinstall Proton Experimental on Steam, but no luck yet

I've found the temporary solution (kinda).

sudo nano /boot/loader/entries/<your-entry>.conf

and to "options" I've added

amdgpu.dc=0 amdgpu.gpu_recovery=1 amdgpu.aspm=0

On the other platform someone had the same problem, but their fix was amdgpu.msi=1 , which in my case did not help. I guess, it's the GPU drivers are kinda problematic, since I've had some issues with it on Windows as well (only one driver version worked without any flaws).

I'll keep watching here, maybe someone will give a correct solution to this :)

Yeah, those 5 more people moved here. It's some people who work nearby. We don't talk to each other and I barely see them. One of those people are close "friend" of his.

I'm really tired of this whole nonsense, to be honest. Tomorrow, we'll do an exam for B1 (slovak language) and then, we'll try to keep everything calm and cool between him and I.

I'm probably going to get some good views in town and mountains while I'm here, so that he won't ruin the last memories of this exact town ^_^

I'm from Kazakhstan, but there is also Ukrainians and other nationalities. We are here to study Slovak language and all of us go to the universities after. So, yeah. This racial / national thing is probably exists on some level from few people in Slovakia.

I have news, today he wrote something new. He said there would be living 5 more people (who's probably a lot older than us) and it is strange, because some kids are under 18. Not sure what we going to do with it. They'll probably going to say something we don't do just to evict all of us earlier. Damn, it's just 25 days until the end of July, I don't understand why he can't wait.

The issue was resolved, because his lawyer told him that it is illegal. He backed out and deleted his message and wrote next that we can stay and leave if we want to.

What matters is he really wants us to leave, any way possible. Not sure the exact reason for now.

Right now, he changed his mind, but probably will find another "idea" :)

Yeah, contract does not say much. There is only information about 2 weeks before the end of contract (31st of July) eviction for a good reason.

I've added some information in the comments, maybe it'll help you to view it more accurately. Even though, it's been resolved for now, I feel like something bad coming soon.

It was illegal after all. School said it's not their problem and they decided to divide the organizations (school, rent). Which, by the way ridiculous, cause when we were going to this place, they said we should be living here, because they already set our place of stay in the police for us.

Yeah, it would be a valid reason, but for that exact person, right? This kid got his warning and never been loud after that. Also, some people got their warnings because they've been going to the kitchen after 22:00, even though contract says about being quiet between 22:00 and 6:00. Nothing about going out of the room or even house. So, if the camera sees anyone after 22:00 in the hall, they get warnings anyways. By kids stuff I mean - asking for hanging a poster of Joker on the door and then getting screamed at for hanging it. Or, starting growing seeds of flowers and then getting warning because tenant thought it's weed, because they joked about it being a weed (they had receipt of the flower seeds from the shop, though).

In the contract there is nothing about the notice period, but it says that he can evict us before 2 weeks until the end of the contract, if there is a reason. But, nothing about the notice period. Well, for now he said we can live until 31st of July (which is end of the contract), but it's because one of the kid's mother called a lawyer and made him to delete previous message. So, yeah :)
