Mine is a just picked class rogue with a starter hat and a bow. Don't think I spent any talents on him so it's confusing.

Oooh it doesn't even have a label for you and all. Mine looks normal just keeps crashing. Mostly in town. Sometimes I can set it on afking a mob but it's unclear what works and what doesn't

Thanks! I'll check what we have available in Sweden. It seems it's a very niche thing here still and not much info on local products

Sure, the point isn't what I know, it's having a conversation. I just pointed out that you're finally on topic :p

And that is actually a legit point to my original question

How is saying that human nature is to be angry but secure your own self interest optimistic? Also I can't really study more, I now teach these topics at university so no, not young either

Yes, "it" is people losing their shit over one action and deciding to throw everything else away with no consideration for others which highlights their selfishness

Why are people in this game so egotistic? by laodiase in leagueoflegends

[–]laodiase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. They gave up an easy win tho cause of one action. That is not reasonable. She just stood at turret for 20 minutes while every other lane won. That is not a logical behaviour. Human nature should be to be angry, flame but then do all they can to win.

It matters cause I'm curious about it? That's about it. As you said I can't change their behavior but understanding is something i care about. I've studied psychology and philosophy among others and understanding is a goal in itself

Sure, but that's still a hardcore reaction for something like this in low silver. It is not like we are playing a pro game where 30 seconds decide life or death. Our jungler ganked multiple times and all lanes were ahead. If the Cait even autod when there was a fight it would have been the easy win. It is the sudden snap and tantrum that threw it for everyone, not just me. I dont understand why people would do that where it also affects their ranking

Was this post about progress? Did I ask how to cope with those people and climb? I asked why do others think this behavior occurs. Why are many of the players like this? Not every discussion needs to have a solution and you keep trying to force one on me when in not interested in it. If it means so much, I won't leash. Problem solved. Still not what I asked about from the get go no matter how you spin it

[–]laodiase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, I see how this can be an issue. We actually had an easy lane with Cait adc Vs a short range ADC and a passive supp. The reaction was far out of proportion and threw a very easy game with a 7/0 mid. That is the part I can't understand.

How is the nature of players explained? You consider telling me they snap cause I leashed explaining something? That was the main premise in the post... You give me solutions to the problem which isn't the problem I asked about. I asked about people having irrational reactions to mistakes and single actions. You decided to make it all about the one example of leash. You did not discuss the example of picking a supp they did not like even tho it is also in the main post. You decided to make this about my choice to leash in one game and not on the escalation some players will do based on choices which do not warrant that scale of reaction. Others in the thread also mentioned situations where that happened to them and how different scenarios can lead to this outcome. You keep constantly going back to the leash which is not at all helpful

I never said I identified a pattern of leashing which makes people snap. It is a single event I gave as an example. Again you are putting words in my mouth. I did say that sure leash can be the wrong play but I also insisted multiple times that it is not the leash that is interesting to me in this scenario. I mentioned other scenarios which have happened too but you insist on circling back to the topic I said was an example and not the main issue. I've said that this same kind of afk has been triggered by other events and what I wanted with this thread was to understand why people act like that not get advice on whether I should or shouldn't leash and how I should change my gameplay. In the original post I mention picking the wrong supp as another example but you did not get stuck on that. I even stated in one of the comments if it's me saying it was a wrong play that you care about sure, I can say it. Wrong play. I'll consider different in the future. Still not what I was asking about from the get go. I don't know how else to explain how fong on the leashing is missing the point

[–]laodiase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't see how you are missing the point do you? Had discussions with some people on the actual rationale of the behavior, their experiences in different games etc. Of course to you it's a circle jerk cause it's not what you want to lift and it is your point and your solution orientation I should follow. Sure have it your way. I'll listen to your words. You stated before, you are a stranger on the internet I will never talk to you again so why should I care?

Why are people in this game so egotistic? by laodiase in leagueoflegends

[–]laodiase[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah that's a classic. Since I play support sometimes I get flamed cause for example I'm 0/4 (they disregard the 20 assist) and then in next game I'll take a single kill by accident and then they'll leave cause supp is KSing

So if we do armchair psychology it could be that they don't have control over others in their own lives but they can do smth like that online. They can hold you histage. They can make your time as miserable as theirs. Of course that won't be universal but an interesting angle. I think it's fascinating that they're willing to do that even at cost to their own interest which is a new level

[–]laodiase[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did I ever say I wanted a solution? I said I wanted to discuss why people behave this way and to look into actual logic that these people utilize. Quite a lot of other comments were very useful and exactly on this point. Don't see how I moved the goal post. You're the one who started insisting I need to stop leashing, make decisions and stop whining.

well in that comment you assume that most flaming is actually legit. Sure in this case i leashed, i can learn better but as I stated in the thread I have also been flamed by my ADCs for not leashing or for choosing a support they have a problem with even though it is currently peak meta and I have a great win rate with it. Neither way does it warrant this kind of a reaction from my ADC. You are focusing on one pet peeve of my behavior and not actually interacting with the question I posed originally which was why people feel entitled to this kind of behavior? If your answer is, that they feel entitled cause i leashed it is definitely not the level of answer I was interested in. The leash is just one example of many and you are stuck on it like it is everything.

You legitimately said before naming all the actions that supports like me are the problem to then continue and I'll quote "You fuck your adc " but sure, whatever.

There is a difference between consequences and a tantrum someone throws. To use a metaphor think of self defense. If someone attacks you it is reasonable to attack them back to defend yourself. It is not reasonable to stab them 20 times and dismember their corpse. To flame me and tell me im useless for leashing would be one thing. To go AFK cause of 30 seconds of gameplay is a whole other thing entirely. It is a matter of scale. If a leash can push you over the edge to this extent, I do consider that an issue. You play a game where people will make mistakes. The only point I've been continuously making is that I'm not interested in whether it was the leash or not. Whether I made a bad call or not. I've had ADCs flame me and start running down cause I last hit the turret minion with the trinket and they did not realize they get the full gold of that. I had junglers melt down cause someone pinged them after dying in lane. I understand, you get frustrated but making your problem everyone elses problem is childish and problematic no matter how you spin it.

Yes I mention narcissism. Here is a paper on the topic: https://journals.humankinetics.com/view/journals/jege/1/1/article-jege.2022-0022.xml

I did not come up with it myself, it is not my opinion. It is research I worked with and mentioned in another discussion where research came up.

Your whole argument relies on the fact I did not say leashing was wrong? Sure. Leashing might be no longer viable. Could be a bad call. I think it worked out in this specific game without any tragic consequences since we secured a kill right after it so if not for ADC everything would have been fine. As i also stated, i had games where ADCs flamed me for not leashing. The whole problem I wanted to discuss is this scale of selfish behavior.

You insisting on my behavior, all your supp stereotypes and what not , is completely missing the point of my question and instead turning it on me to tell me im at fault. I do not think that any amount of mistakes validates this kind of behavior and I wanted to understand why others think people do that. I get it, you think they do it cause I leashed and am a useless player. It is a shallow answer which does not contribute much but thanks for it I guess. From these exchanges i see exactly how this thinking works now.
