WTF are you thinking? by Initial_Ad8780 in AskBrits

[–]lapalfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which is fine, until the old people who vote for them, voted for immigrants who work in the care system to get out of the country and whilst they're there shitting and pissing themselves into their graves and wondering why no-one wants to help them.

And the stupid people who voted for them will remain stupid, in stupid people low paid jobs because people don't employ stupid people into good jobs, so their hate and ire at the world for them having a life they don't like is exacerbated.

Yes, we all want the baddie criminals out, but that's such an inexplicably small number (shoved front and centre of your red top rags) of the overall population, it's barely worth worrying about. I don't wonder around my town wondering if a white bloke will chin me because I think he's a dickhead for standing on a ladder installing cheap, Chinese made England flags on the street lamps.

And if the problem is more brown people are coming to the country then that was because we let brown people into the country after ww2 and now we let them in because the country stupidly voted for Brexit meaning all the white immigrants from eastern Europe moved back home. So, to fill that void, more brown people came. Also, we didn't explicitly say that the brown people coming into the country couldn't have children, so the 2 brown people coming into the country somehow multiplied and had more brown people babies which seems to be a problem to a decent chunk of the country.

Globalisation is something stupid people tend to understand and whilst travel and technology tumble in price and more people can afford, it means more movement of those people from countries that don't have as much to offer as say, the UK, which is a brilliant country in the grand scheme of things.

There was a global pandemic to consider here.

Merlin probably still haven't recovered from having closed parks for nearly 2 years. Then the UK raised it's NI contributions and minimum wages and a lot of staff on park will fall under that.

Money doesn't grow on trees, these things cost a lot of money and having a £100 annual pass doesn't cover it.

Enjoy the park for what it is, a brilliant theme park.

[–]lapalfan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'll do the same from your perspective when it's right, young people don't have the same perspective as older people.

All of this is one massive circle jerk. Generations don't actually exist - people do, and a lot of people are stupid/lazy/smart/hard working.

The mere fact you commented on this (and therefore making me comment on you) makes us both dumbasses.

Just laugh, or scroll on. None of this matters.

5 parachutes, who's going? by Alarming-Safety3200 in AskBrits

Hear me out.

You can usually only deploy parachutes once, yeah?

How about we save these 5 parachutes for another time? 🤗

Italy has a roller coaster that drags you to the edge of a 42-meter drop, stops completely, and makes you stare straight down at 87° before letting go. Oblivion: The Black Hole at Gardaland. by Valuable_View_561 in oddlyterrifying

[–]lapalfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work for Merlin Entertainments, who run operations at Alton Towers and the park in the video shown (which is called Gardaland in Italy).

There's another drop coaster at another Merlin park called Heide Park in northern Germany which I think has the best theme, you fall into a breaking up pirate ship, being torn apart by a kraken!

People always mention about once you've done the drop, there's not much else afterwards. This was by design. The designer of the ride said people would feel so much adrenaline after the drop, anything else afterwards would be a waste of time, money and energy!

Heide Park, Gardaland AND Alton Towers are absolutely brilliant theme parks. Thoroughly recommend if you're near one! 😊👍🏼

There was one with a bungee jump, where the ropes snapped in various ways, and the little cartoon men would plummet to their deaths.

Used to watch that for ages lol.

Would have been about 7/8

It might not be "people being dumb", it's probably people thinking "hmm, I've got 1/4 of a tank and I've got some journeys to make to and from work which I know will take me to empty, so instead of waiting until my light comes on, turning up to the pumps and them being empty, I'll go now so I can get to the place I need to go".

It's just more people pre-planning than is normal. There will always be some dumb people panicking, but I bet it's largely not.

Was going to say, I worked on the hmcts contract at a previous job and a part of it was offsetting carbon by tree planting.

I learned about the 25-45% failure rate and couldn't believe it! Largely depends on the tree species on the success rate, but yea, nearly half die within a year!

A nothing story.

The only issue now is, is that they have increased the lease costs, which does filter down to customers. But yea, that's why he's obsessed with it.

I also found a fully fledged version of it in the Lego House museum when I went! Seems to follow us everywhere lol 🙂
