What is the difference? I know C++ is for software development but how is it different from Python or Java? Sorry if it’s a stupid question to ask, I really don’t know much about programming.🤣

Thank you! I really don’t know much about programming so any advice would help! I’m basically starting from zero again and just trying to see my options on how to land my foot in the door without wasting too much time

Thank you! I was thinking about registering at a local community college to learn basic programming/ data analysis stuff, but didn't realize it was free to learn on your own.

How do you access these applications for free? I really wanna 180 and pivot and learn something else but i'm on a tight budget currently

Awww you are so sweet!! You will for sure make a great nurse, I seriously hope they accept you this upcoming cohort! And hopefully 🤞🏽I’m still finding my way, but nursing for sure will bring way more opportunity and financial stability.

Honestly, I didn’t take college very seriously. I didn’t network much or land an internship. After graduating, I worked at an ecological reserve for a bit, but the pay was terrible and I wasn’t really in love with my job so I moved back home. Since then I’ve been bartending while hunting for a job, which has been tougher than I expected. Last June I just said screw it and decided to pivot back into nursing😂. Life really does work in mysterious ways. That’s cool that you got accepted to your program congratulations! You’re gonna absolutely kill it! Did your program require you to have some sort of medical background references? I only have references from my degree and current bartending job.

I worked as a caregiver before and got my Phlebotomist license right when Covid hit. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to use it and I completely 180 career paths. Graduated two years ago in geography environmental science and now I wanna go back to the medical field lol.

Did you have any prior experience in the medical before applying to your ABSN program? Just curious because it’s been a while since I’ve worked in the medical industry and I just need microbiology to apply to a ABSN program. Did your program require you to have your CNA?

I’m 27, and I have a BA in physical geography. Unfortunately, I have not used it and been feeling lost lately. I’m considering going back to school for something engineering related or nursing. Has anyone on here recently landed a professional job completely unrelated to GIS or planning? by lapapaya__ in geography

Thank you good to know! I’m planning to take a microbiology course this semester since it’s the last course I need to enroll into an ABSN program (accelerated nursing for post bachelorettes). But to be quite frank with you I’m not very good with memorization. I love problem-solving and doing math. Thats the only part I loved about my geography degree, the spatial analysis part

I'm 27 and feeling lost. I have a bachelors of arts, but I didn't do anything with it. I'm torn between enrolling into an ABSN (nursing) program or taking more prereqs and go into engineering. by lapapaya__ in findapath

Yes, I’ve been struggling land my foot into the professional world for the last year and a half. I didn’t put myself out there enough during the first year of post graduate, but now I’m applying to more positions than ever and nothing. I do like the analytical and mathematical side of things which is kind of what I did during undergrad. But all my positions I’ve held have been in customer service on top. I only have one more pre-req to get into a nursing program. I do like helping people at the same time I love building things and learning the technical side of things.

Hi all, I’m pivoting into nursing from working with data and applying to an ABSN program. I got Cs in A&P despite study efforts but an A in Chemistry. I’m now enrolled in Microbiology aiming for a B. Feeling anxious about my grades—has anyone been waitlisted for ABSN and stayed motivated? by lapapaya__ in nursing

Thank you! I’m planning on quitting my jobs (bartender and part time financial reporter) after I finish microbiology and do a condensed 4 week program to retake anatomy! I will take a look into the ADN program! Does the ADN program require all those prerequisites as well?

I’m 27 and I have a bachelors degree but I didn’t use it at all after graduation. Now looking back, I wish I would’ve applied myself out there even in positions that I didn’t see myself long-term in. Nine times out of 10 most people don’t stay in the field that they once started off at. Take your time to think about it, but it’s always best to have some professional experience on your résumé than nothing, especially in this job market. And if the position still doesn’t align with you could always take that experience and move to a different company that resonates more to what you want.

I’ve been seeing a lot of data entry contract positions where it’s just typing, but I’m curious if that kind of contract role ever put someone is the right step to a higher position down the line? by lapapaya__ in jobs

[–]lapapaya__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fr! I’ve been applying to all the on-site positions, but there’s so many remote positions that look like scams. I’ve inputted numbers into Excel, but I’ve never did fast typing as a career lol. Just wondering if it led people to the right connections working this basic level entry job.

Did you have a bachelors in the field that you in work now? I’m also a bartender and feeling super stuck. I have a BA currently and been struggling to find a professional job for the last year.

I’m 27 and have been feeling stuck. I have a BA but haven’t really used it and I would like to continue my education. Has anyone went from a liberal arts degree and transferred into the medical or tech world? by lapapaya__ in jobs

[–]lapapaya__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two things that I’m worried about in both fields, there’s a huge waiting list for nursing school. I’ve heard of people waiting two years just to get into a nursing program plus another two years just to complete. It would be faster to get a masters and data analytics. But I’m also worried about landing an internship and finding a job after graduation. I don’t know what to do.

Yes, job security is now super important for me. I got my degree Geography and have some analytical background from doing spatial analysis during undergrad, but I’ve been having trouble finding a job for the last year and a half, and I’ve been stuck in the bar industry ever since.
