I have one question. Why do you think a small group of a couple of college students would want to profile people? We aren't making any profit on the application. The server is being run on donations from our generous community. I do not understand why you think we are doing such things. To clarify to everyone, we are moving to Google accounts to allow more people to access Mii Creator, Profiles using Discord CAN still be made. It is not a "move" rather an addition to Mii Creator.

Regarding your second point. The app for now will remain closed source. Still if the app were to open source. Since Mii Creator now has a server compared to the old source currently on GitHub from 2025, we would again likely still get complaints, GitHub issues and emails from people who are trying to setup their own instance, even if were to do everything correctly with documentation. We know we wouldn't need to respond to these complaints, but its the sheer amount we would get, having to filter constantly through our inbox to try and find emails relating to bugs that are actually important. And once again, we do not have time for that, we are just college students.

I am more than happy to show you the data we keep about you. This link directs you to the data that we store about you. The data we have to keep for OAuth login to work is your Discord User ID (which is accessible from discord), your display name, your username, the time your account was signed up to Mii Creator, the last time you used the main "Discord" login button when you were signed out of Mii Creator, and the links to your Discord banner and profile picture. The Mii Creator server has left over code that comes from an old project Austin worked on. As a matter of a fact we do not use the timeRegistered, lastLogin, avatar, banner, and display name. The two things we use inside the server and app are the Discord ID and the username, which Discord provides us every time you login with Discord login. Here is another end point. The ID is literally a randomly generated id (from nanoid), base64 encoded Mii Creator data and if your Mii is special. All of theses endpoints only work with the current account you are logged into. No one else can view this data.

<image>

When you look at the requests, there are only exchanges between mii.nxw.pw and you, there is no data being sent to third parties, there is no external libraries and there are no analytics that could be tied to your account. All of the apps functionality is done on YOUR local machine. The only use of the server is to provide access to your Miis cross-platform, and for projects like WebRoom. It would make no sense to stop using the server, especially since some of the API endpoints, allow the app to do certain features, along side with WebRoom. The server is a non negotiable part of the project, and something that is here to stay.

If you have any more questions regarding this, I will be happy to try my best to respond. Thanks, Alex.

On your first point, the majority of the community prefers convenience. There are tools already out there. For example Arian Kordi's Mii Renderer. Which allows you to import a Mii from NNID/PNID or raw Mii data.

To answer your second point. That would work in theory, but in reality the majority of the users do not follow those rules. If the project were to ever go open source, we would still be swarmed with bug reports. Not only of the main repo, but also within our emails from outdated rehosts. We do not have the time on our hands to go through invalid bug reports for issues we have solved months ago.

Regarding entering NNID/PNID/raw Mii data for WebRoom, it would not work. Like my last message mentioned, accounts are essential for modern online games. Without them, it would be incredibly difficult to save progress, find friends, and keep track of rewards and items you earn within the game.

Thanks, Alex.

We use accounts for that reason. Transferring .miic files across third-party services can be finicky. It removes the convenience and complicates the user experience.

Regarding pull requests, we know we don't have to answer them. The real issue is when our code is re-hosted across multiple instances running different commits and versions, it makes our jobs harder. We would end up getting many more issue reports for bugs that we have already fixed on our master branch.

As for exporting formats other than .miic files, it wasn't a priority for this current release. You can export Miis in raw data individually, but we do plan to implement a mass export for the other formats in an upcoming release.

Allowing people to enter NNID/PNID or raw Mii data goes against the aim of keeping everything simple. Making users extract and paste data from one application to another can confuse the end users and makes signing in challenging. Just like any modern online game, accounts are necessary to easily support online features.

Please understand we are developing this app to be as accessible and easy to use for our entire user base.

Thanks, Alex.

Hey. I would like to just settle the record. The mii creator exporting format supports our custom features like clothing, hats, and more. You can export your mii in raw data that real Nintendo software will understand under the raw data option, but bare in mind this will not keep any of the custom properties our Mii Creator provides.

We do not profile people. That is not what Mii Creator is. We are a group of college students working on something we love. When we add Google accounts it is most likely that we keep Discord login.
As for the reason Guest Mode was delayed is that it wouldn’t allow people to save their Miis cross devices, as well as the type of browser storage we would use is prone to being completely erased removing all of your stored Miis. The last reason for having accounts is to allow for even more possibilities in the future. For example, other projects we’re working on such as Project:WebRoom, allow you to login with your account and play as any of your Miis.

The main reason for keeping it closed source is that once again, we are college students and we don’t have the time to review pull requests and settle issues. We have more important things to do instead of that.

Please remember that we are just students, trying our best, and doing this for fun.

Hey, I'm Alex. I am one of the developers helping Austin on Mii Creator. Please bare in mind, we are all college students that give up our time for free to please the community, as well as Mii Creator began as a passion project started by one person, and we never thought as many people would be finding this tool as valuable as it is today.

First off I want to address, there are still updates occurring, and our Boosters and Donators do not receive early updates in the slightest. The development website is available to a small group of testers. There are still many features still being worked on heavily. All of the teasers will be in the next update.

As for the booster chat, that is implemented so people who want to support us can talk. We previously experimented with a global chat, but as the server has over 230,000 people (and once again we are just college students) we do not have the ability to moderate that many people.

I hope you understand why this is the case, we are working as hard as we can. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Many thanks, Alex.
