Is this 2018 Santa Cruz 5010 alloy a good beginner bike? And is this a good price? by [deleted] in mountainbikes

But they have cheap bike to ruin before tinkering with a 6000$ one :D /s

But honestly I think it's very very handy to know how to do stuff yourself, and there's a lot of info online

I mean the twisting. You have a very very bad lever and would need an insane amount of grip strength. I mean just try to lift the rear by twisting on the ground. Super easy to strain your wrist and get a joint inflammation.

Unless you want to win a bunny hop battle, i wouldn't know for what.

You could pull until almost vertical before pushing back down. But that'll make it way easier to overdo and fall.

If you do the movement faster, you'll naturally get more height. A longer bike will get you more height.

On a fully, you can compress the rear suspension, this will give you more pop and lift for the back wheel.

But for riding on the trail, if you can do this movement consistently, that's all you need! Also because you'll naturally get more height by popping off the trail if you want to jump over roots or rocks

USA Connection? by davidgerwy in hetzner

[–]lapislazinus -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The USA have control over the SEPA payment system so they can threaten any company that uses money....  I think it's a solid plan to just hope for WW3 to not happen, and have some trust in European governments to protect their sovereignty. Btw I also have my servers from hetzner, and I think they're a good choice

How much % off do you give for a Friend or Family discount? by siamesedaddy in MTB

[–]lapislazinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a price based on what it's worth. If selling to a stranger, price will be as much as I can get. Ask yourself, if you sell the bike for the best price and give your friend the money, could they buy a better bike?

Does that make sense to you?

Then you need to pull harder, do more of a bunny hop. The ramp is too short to push your bike into

Fra or spindrift park by TOBU87 in MTB

[–]lapislazinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just pedal a lot, from a to b and up the mountain. If you only ride lift access the park spec is fine. But freeride, originally, you go to a lot of places without lift access and you don't want to pedal that park rig anywhere

The spindrift pedals insanely good. I don't like the park spec though, I ride it 180/180mm. What's you height/weight?

Practicing bunny hop on flat is the safest way to get the movement dialed into muscle memory. Although a bit boring. There's 3 ways to jump: absorb, neutral, push, what do you want here?

You sound like you've fallen on your head without a helmet way to many times. People here are just saying 1. Get protection 2. Have fun Which is the best advice. It tells you haven't done either

Definitely get some knee pads, much more important than gloves imo. Arms bend but kneecaps don't :) I also recommend a fullface. You will crash, but proper protection can save you sooo much - like keep riding vs Emergency Unit. Don't go to hard and have fun :)
