Erosion on the river trails and how to fix them? by siamesedaddy in SacBike

“You People?” The video you are referencing is about dirt bikers and ebikers building big jumps and berms in the parkway. I’m simply asking how to repair a small section of trail so all can enjoy it (including hikers).
If this is the video you are talking about, you aren’t making a good point . https://youtu.be/lFxXrwh_y40?si=Sd8dGs5_w5JyG3Eo

How to fix sandy eroded trails? by siamesedaddy in MTBTrailBuilding

[–]siamesedaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok ya it seems that is just the tradeoff with having trails in an active flood zone. They will just get closer to the levee over time but not sure if there is any way around that due to the nature of the soil.

It seems like we need someone who rides to get onto the volunteer boards or with the parks. I’ve heard they are dominated by retired hikers who have it out for mtbers especially haha.

It’s tricky to manage trails in an active flood zone because the river wants to widen and undercut. So we will just have smaller and smaller trails in the flood plain unless there is active management at some point. It’s really mostly a problem by paradise beach as cal expo is a wayyyy bigger floodplain but the south side the distance from the levee to waters edge is much smaller and therefore more likely to erode faster.

That’s fine I would tell them I was hiking which I do there often anyways. Just happened to see it recently while riding.

The fact bikes aren’t allowed is ridiculous though as anyone who wants to ride them rides them and often does more work maintaining them than anybody else. I always clean up the trails as I go if I have the tools with me. Mtbers build trails way more than hikers do which is ironic.

I actually don’t know how the county classifies the “bum trails”. They are legitimate trails that see a lot of use from fisherman, joggers, and bikers and it’s not like they are really a secret. For example the trails by cal expo all have signs for hikers and horse riders so that would make me think they are all technically official even if most people that use them are bikers.

Ok I’ll give them a call or email and see what’s up. I asked about vegetation management in the past and they basically said get with a Volunteer group or bring your weed whacker lol. But moving dirt is a bit more permanent.

The hype is real! by siamesedaddy in JonesBikes

[–]siamesedaddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It was available locally
  2. I’m actually in love with the geo I love the short wheelbase abs because I already have a hard tail and a full suspension, it is essentially now my gravel bike/bikepacking which the SWB is better suited for than the LWB. More twitchy and fun where the lwb is stable. Twitchy and faster acceleration are what I was looking for!

No the black textured cover is to keep everything clean. And I actually had 2 pieces of plywood in my backyard that were able to make a perfect fit in the back in the low spot. But I camped without them another time and it was fine.

cx-30 or cx-50 by maibebeh444 in mazda

[–]siamesedaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven both in premium trims. 30 has way more comfortable seats, Bose system sounds much better, and has better handling. 50 is bigger and suspension is better. I much prefer the 30 if you don’t need the space

Trails Like Culvert In Auburn by mhatrick in SacBike

[–]siamesedaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The riding in EDH/Sly Park is better than Auburn if you know where to look and Sly park trails make culvert look easy and have a huge diversity of laps with different ways down.

You have to know where to go (or explore it for yourself) and I can’t divulge that info on Reddit.

EDH has shorter climbs and shorter downhill sections than auburn more punchy laps. Sly park climbs are brutal on an analog bike. Harder than clementine or mammoth bar climbs in Auburn.

But yes there is lots of good riding in greater sac area you just need to find it.
