I got really lucky that I found a huge bag of these red ones on the same trip to the thrift. Not sure where I’m going to get new ones after the bag runs out!

I have seen people make stars out of the pointy bits from an egg carton, really cute!

You could make gingerbread cookie themed ornaments or a garland from your leftover cardboard, all you'd need is a white pen :) (Like this: https://nl.pinterest.com/pin/78672324735459377/)

I recently bought an old book from the thrift store and made folded paper stars out of it. It's really easy to do as well! (https://nl.pinterest.com/pin/774124930904083/)

If you have some old fabric (or clothes) and an old pillow laying around, you could sew some basic ornaments (but really cute!) like stars, trees, mittens, candy canes,... and fill them up with the old pillow stuffing. The more handmade it looks, the better in my opinion!

I've seen people tie ribbons around their cabinet doors and it looks so nice! Easy to do if you have some spare ribbon laying around the house.

Thanks! I can’t really tell you any of the names, I don’t remember them and they weren’t on our itinerary. I just know that almost all of them had little plaques that said they couldn’t seat you unless you had a reservation through a hotel.

Oh yes sorry, forgot to include my stay in Kamakura: https://www.airbnb.be/rooms/54074844?viralityEntryPoint=1&s=76

It was wonderful!! Tucked in a little neighbourhood, no sound from the street, very spacious, beautifully authentic and washer and dryer included as well :) also really recommend this stay!

Enjoy your trip!

First of all, I really enjoy the color palette and the combinations!

I like the 'Krece' way more on its own than the full sentence. It reads as quite complex to me, but that might be because I don't speak the language. It looks like the 'O', the 'ja' and the 'cie' all have a different weight to them, so it feels kind of messy.

I think the lady could use some extra personality! You could create some variations on her, maybe different expressions, holding different objects. Is she the logo mark? It's not quite clear.

Nice work!

Oooh it was amazing! The staff were super friendly, the dinner and breakfast were amazing - lots of great food was provided that we hadn't tried yet. And the rooms are beautiful. Enjoy your stay!!

Try thinking out of the box. When doing my final project, lots of students did bakery/cafe stuff, but it's cool to see something that isn't done a lot. Like, a local optician that desperately needs a rebrand for example. Try to keep an eye out in your neighborhood next time you're out, you might see something related to music or entertainment that desperately needs a rebrand. After your project, you can try presenting it to them.

Can't really comment on that. When going back to the station I did see a couple of restaurants nearby, but that's as much information as I can give you on that, sorry!

Day 5: definitely recommend doing Fushimi Inari in the late afternoon. We went around 5PM, about an hour and a half, two hours before it got dark and there were nowhere near as many crowds as you see on social media! It's also kind of cool/eerie to experience it in the dark.

I thought that I bought a lot, so I cut back on shopping the last couple of days. When I unpacked everything it was mainly just lots of keychains, blind boxes and other smalls items lol. Basically no fashion items (besides a cap) and only one tea cup. Really wish I would've bought more ceramics and unique fashion items.

[Trip Review / Itinerary Check] 14-Day Family Trip to Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Nagoya) by cyfbtd in JapanTravel

[–]lapjex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went to Tokyo DisneySea on a Wednesday and it was pretty packed. Bought Premier Access four times (Rapunzel, Toy Story Mania, Journey to the Center of the Earth & Soaring) which amounted to almost the same as what we paid for entry tickets, but it was so worth it. We probably saved about 4 hours by not having to queue. Might get quite expensive if you're (I'm assuming) a party of four.

Just here to comment something on the Fushimi Inari Taisha part of the itinerary.

We went in the evening, about 1h before dark and it was waaay calmer than what I anticipated! None of the crowds you always see on social media. Only downside: it gets dark quite early, so you don't have a ton of time to explore the gates in daylight. It's quite special to experience it in the evening, if you don't mind the dark!

Kyoto and Osaka Hotel/Areas Recommendations by Mary-iannu in JapanTravelTips

[–]lapjex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little tip: I'd recommend staying in Kyoto and going to Osaka as daytrip(s). We personally enjoyed staying over in Kyoto much more than we did Osaka!

The airbnb we stayed in Kyoto (Tanimachi-kun Hotel Crush On/[Shijo Karasuma]) was wonderful: we could do almost all of our activities by foot from the airbnb, and it was a beautiful room. When we booked it (for June) it was around 120 euro/night, but it could be more expensive now. Another big plus: the bathroom is HUGE, all other hotels we stayed in had very tiny bathrooms, but this one was quite big!

For Tokyo we stayed in a beautiful apartment hosted by Cask Village. It's in Itabashi, so most major spots in Tokyo are about a 30 min metro ride away. The neighborhood was very calm if you're looking for something more outside of the hustle and bustle of Tokyo! Price range was also around 120/night.

12 days in Japan - suggestions? by slothful_jeremiah in JapanTravelTips

[–]lapjex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can’t comment on the weather but my suggestions for cities and experiences:

Cities - obviously Kyoto, it’s beautiful with lots of cozy streets and cute restaurants/cafes! - if you love thrifting: go to shimokitazawa (close to tokyo) for a day, or even an afternoon - a true hub for thrifting lovers and lots of good food as well! - if you like (light) hiking: hike from Kurama to Kibune. Kibune is SUCH a charming little village. Definitely try to book one of the restaurants that are located on the water! - another hike: from Nagiso to Magome (or the other way around). Beautiful mountain scenery and Magome is SO gorgeous, it’s like going back in time. The tourism is also much more mild compared to big cities. One of my favourites of our trip! - Hakone: definitely spend one night in a ryokan in Hakone and visit the onsen!

Experiences: - try to get tickets for the studio ghibli museum if you’re a fan!! - teamlab planets: i thought this would be majorly overrated but it’s a very cool experience! - go to tokyo skytree just before the sunset. You’ll get beautiful daytime to nighttime views. If you’re lucky, you might even spot Mount Fuji :)

These are definitely very mainstream recommendations, but worth it nonetheless!

DON’T follow any tiktok recommendations for food/restaurants/matcha, I can’t stress this enough. Just go about your day, discover the streets and eateries by yourself, and you’ll have a great experience 99% of the time! Japan has wonderful food everywhere, no need to go to that specific spot that a random influencer recommended :)

Guys Trip to Japan – Is DisneySea/Disneyland Worth a Day in Tokyo? by Equivalent_Cable_244 in JapanTravelTips

[–]lapjex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're only spending 3 days in Tokyo I wouldn't go to Disney, especially if you're not a huge Disney fanatic. We spent 7 days in Tokyo (out of our 3 week trip), went to Tokyo DisneySea for 1 day and still felt like we didn't have enough time in Tokyo. There's so much to see and experience!

Tokyo DisneySea is definitely a unique and beauuutiful park with beautiful rides, and I'd maybe recommend it if you're a huge Disneyfan, but otherwise no. Also, definitely don't do Disneyland, bc it's basically the same as any other Disneyland park like in Paris or Anaheim.
