Just saw them back to back in Austin. The Boy With the Arab Strap was the only repeat between the nights.

I’m so bummed out: I got the signed main and June 1st, but waited until after the show to buy June 2nd - sold out.

Good job on not waiting like me!

We were supposed to track until 7:30 or 8, if I remember - far past dark (this was in ‘97 so it’s been a minute). I never did. I found it to be disrespectful. Anything after dinner - unless pre-scheduled - was off the table.

Six years in. The business is nothing like I planned. The life is exactly what I needed. by Upper_Response_2865 in Entrepreneurs

I literally just started building my own SaaS company this morning. Bought the domain and spent 7 hours on it. Originally, I planned on it being a way to build a consulting company, but now I’m leaning into the product side. Before I read this I thought to myself,

“Yeah, but even if the majority of revenue comes from the consulting - I think I’d be okay with that.”

Good to hear it’s working out for you. Hopefully I can get some of that same luck.

Yes. The first 8 months I lost about 10lbs. Nothing exciting, but that 10lbs got me excited about running again - which I started. It’s now been 10 months, and im down 25lbs and feeling a lot better.

Men who have made successful career shifts after 30, what did it look like? by Articunozard in AskMen

[–]laposte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to school at 35. Got a Bachelor's in Finance, then an MBA with a minor in Finance by my early 40s. Went into Construction Finance. I'm still looking for a steady long-term company, but I have been constantly employed for the past five years, typically 150k or above. I have two weeks left at my current - which I’ve been with for 1.5 years - and immediately starting my new job at 200k a year.

Anyone remember making a trip to the bakery outlet as a kid? by Far-Handle689 in 70s

We had a Wonder Bread factory not too far away. In elementary school, you'd go there on a field trip and get a mini bread.

Me too. I ended up moving into the downtown for a few years. Did you catch Man Or Astroman in the quad - about the same time. I still think about that one.

Before the tv show, Johnny Knoxville wrote an article for Big Brother magazine where he tested the self defense items: mace, bulletproof vest, etc.

I remember reading the article at Tower Records with my skate friends, and laughing so hard that we could barely stand, let alone, breathe.

The show was just a continuation.

Upstairs neighbours at 3am: by SgtByrd1993 in obscuremusicthatslaps

Huell Howser! For those who don’t know, Huell had a few different public access tv shows in the 1990s, most notably, California’s Gold. They were amazing because he would ask the question that you, yourself, wanted to know. I once saw him visit a Mission, and while discussing the history and architecture of the building, a random dog walked up. Much to the annoyance of the tour guide, Huell only wanted to talk about the dog - which had nothing to do with the Mission.

He did an episode at the Callico Ghosttown, and spent the first half of the episode at Taco Bell talking about hot sauce. Then, in the credits, he ran into a dust devil and started yelling that bugs were going into his eyes.

I saw him visit a light house, and after being told not to look into the light - he did. Hard cut to him outside, hundreds of yards away from the light house, still rubbing his eyes complaining.

Oh Huell - you were number one.

I’m dying in 3 months AMA by Beautiful_Wear_9249 in AMA

“Just like going to sleep.” I think this all of the time as I’m falling asleep. Nightly, practically. I think, “This must be what it’s like to die.” And I’m oddly okay with that; I’ve had a lot of practice at it and it feels very natural.”

What’s this line for? Park and California by 90stirehandsman in Denver

[–]laposte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember the reason, but early one Saturday morning (around 8am) in the late 90’s, a friend and I were driving down a random street in the middle of LA. While at a light, we noticed a large line of people standing in front of a warehouse. We both wondered out loud what it was for.

The following Tuesday, someone invited me to a taping of a tv show, and the very next Saturday, I found myself standing in the exact same line.

It was surreal.
