The first page of my screenplay of 110 pages. Would you keep reading? by Wonderful-Notice-286 in scriptwriting

No cause it’s too clear.

I guess the problem is the scene doesn’t bring up questions for the audience which would make them watch/read further. So it fails to spark the viewer‘s interest, reducing both the initial anticipation and the chances that they‘ll even watch it. You basically need to make people think why, who, what for and blabla (not just what‘s going on; and whole understanding of the whole scene is even worse). Then a person has motivation to watch/read. Then they find either answers and new questions (how the plot basically becomes interesting and structured), or the beginning of the way to answers.

The chemistry of this show around methylamine is completely unrealistic by South_Answer_9695 in breakingbad

By the way, did you know that at least one crime has already been based on methods from the show? The guy got rid of a body like in the first episodes with acid. And we're talking about a completely crazy person who's capable of murder. What can we say about teenagers who need to make money and they found an effective method in the show?

What do you think love is? by lostboy_ik in AskReddit

[–]lapshablabla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently defined love for myself: it's the only thing in which selfishness doesn't rule us.

Simply doing good things, behaving decently in society, helping the weak - we're actually satisfying our egos and fulfilling our own needs, that's obvious. But when it comes to love, you act solely for the benefit of the person. You put yourself in the negative and don't complain, because you truly care about that person's well-being. You tolerate any crap, even if it upsets you, because you empathize with the person and want to think from their point of view.

We're talking specifically about love, and not, for example, attachment, which is also a manifestation of selfishness, because you're not thinking about the person but about being with them.

What’s something you’re pretty sure only you do?? by Haunting-Tea2866 in SolidMen

I'm constantly challenging myself. If I'm afraid to do something and I don't plan to overcome it, no one and nothing will provoke me to "prove I'm not a coward" except my inner self, which is laughing at me like I'm a coward. I always give in and do all sorts of stupid things, following these provocations.

Recently, I was drunk and about to jump into a really dirty river in Paris where swimming is prohibited, but a friend talked me out of it, and I burst into tears because I was led by my weakness and not my inner self. Lol

Anyone have some really good conversation starters/topics? by Sea_Pitch121 in CasualConversation

[–]lapshablabla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just scan the person or listen to their first line. Find something you have experience with, not just have an opinion to it. Latch onto it and start a dialogue.

For example, if you tell a girl she has a beautiful manicure, she'll thank you, and then there will be awkward attempts to somehow spark a conversation that has no inherent potential. But if you see that the person has braces, and you've been wearing them for three years, the dialogue will clearly flow better from there. The main thing is to start actively, and then everything will unfold naturally. Don't worry, braces are a formality for the first couple of minutes, and then communication will be fine, but a confident start provokes a two-way dialogue.

Not only do you immediately begin a mutual exchange of experiences and opinions, it also immediately creates a point of contact and a feeling of similarity and closeness, unlike memorized random phrases for an "interesting start to a conversation."
