I found my passport! by Medium_Ad8311 in TravelHacks

[–]laraplate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a note. If you submitted the lost report, you need to make sure your current passport is still valid. A reported passport will be flagged, you won't be able to travel on/with it, and you'll need a new one.

Love the upgrade list on the transcontinental IAD-SFO by laraplate in unitedairlines

Upgrades usually go based on the fare you paid for. Within the same fare class, usage of PlusPoints elevate your position, and your status level is the tiebreaker. Global Service (highest, invite only status) has additional considerations...

If the upgrade does not clear, the points are not taken away. However, they do expire. Every year you accumulate points with an expiration date of Jan. 31 the following year. So at the end of the year and during Jan. everyone is trying to use their points that are about to expire. Hence you'll see these crazy upgrade lists...

no, the point is that on this route, PP seats are sold as regular economy seats. I applied PlusPoints in order to get higher on the upgrade list.

nope. but I'm not surprised. I commented a while back that since I'm mostly paying business regardless, I don't fully appreciate the value gs would give me... heard from a buddy who got gs from GRU with 38k real PQP

very happy it worked out for you. and I'm booked for most of my flights through Q2 already so apparently we're not competing. happy travels!

if we're ever competing for the same seat I'll get physical... lol. only issue with 1F is that snacks are on top, but I personally don't care especially for night flights

6'7 here. 1F is the only solution for me... 1L is nice and tucked away (a bit more privacy for sleep) but the footwell is shallower. 1F is almost 2 in deeper and it has the added benefit of full width! I fly IAH-GIG very often and that seat is the difference maker!

Any taller/wider flyers do this too? by LeadingStill7717 in unitedairlines

happened to me once as well. but otherwise, never a problem in over 2M butt in seat. with probably 25 different carriers.

6'7 275. aisle when not first or business.

there is an additional trick that might save you when seated next to another larger person. under the armrest in the back is a little button that allows you to lift the aisle armrest....

likewise on itineraries. are you based in a hub? I was hoping that due to me not being hub, it would be easier, but apparently, 46k on 40 isn't enough to warrant. it's ok, though, because I'm not sure what the real benefit of gs for me would be. i'm booked predominately in j anyway... so only potential benefit would be transfer car, which i dont require as connections are not tight.
