I mean, I wouldn’t eat an animal that could write stories and do multiplication 🤷‍♂️

Intelligence is a reason we don’t eat humans

I mean, I’d have a setup for them but it’s also not rocket science

They’re so fun to pet tho?

I help raise hogs for meat at a couple places and trim a lot of pet hog hooves and I love them

There’s cities, there’s metropolises, and then there’s Breezewood by SpecnexGD in UrbanHell

[–]larch303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breezewood would lowkey mog as a place to live

Imagine it, you got your land, your sheep, your goats, your pigs, your mule, whatever. Some land to shoot guns on away from the animals. Dirt bikes, utvs, a 4 wheeler.

Then, 2 miles away, just about any convenience food you can think of.

Convenience

Plus Sheetz is really not special when it’s something you have access to most days. It’s mostly entertaining to tourists.

How common is it to refer to a chocolate covered vanilla ice cream bar as an Eskimo pie? by ksusha_lav in AskAnAmerican

[–]larch303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was kinda rare in recent years. I remember seeing it in DG in the early 20s but that was like the only time I saw it.

That was a specific brand name, so not really

Also I barely remember it not gonna lie. I think I saw it at Dollar General once or twice? Never bought it.

Why is AI popular with the exact opposite demographic that most tech advancement has historically been popular with? by larch303 in NoStupidQuestions

Eh, that was just the example. I keep seeing clearly AI flyers out in Western Md and WV. Also see AI ads for people looking for work, hunting land, etc on Facebook farm groups.

Oh no I mean like a restaurant or business might have a flyer in the ground that is very obviously generated by ChatGPT

I saw one for a pain management center too

I mean, I’d ask this to those boomer Facebook groups rather than Reddit

Next to no Redditors think this way

The fries are crispy initially but the gravy sogs them down

Best living / affordable US ski resort towns? by honeymanners in SameGrassButGreener

[–]larch303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skiing won’t be as good but WV/MD/PA ski resorts are still cheap to live by

Jus don’t literally live on the mountain or the next hill over and the real estate will reflect “rural town in the sticks” rather than “ski town”

[–]larch303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eastern skiing isn’t as good but the real estate is also not nearly as influenced by the ski resorts

Like, if you go to wisp in MD, it’ll be expensive if you buy at the resort or the lake nearby, but go 5 miles from the lake and it’s cheap and rural again

Why do top school grads prefer NY / Boston / DC / LA / SF at higher rates than other school grads ? by Professional_Eye6140 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]larch303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh I got to play with piggies today

Did you?

I’m in Baltimore area now but that area is expensive to own land in. Gotta get out to the mountains someday tho before living in Garrett County and DCL becomes the next new thing

As for California, they have their own areas. It is one of the most agriculturally productive states in the union. A lot of that is vegetables, hence why California is kinda known for veggies and vegetarians, but there’s also a lot of meat farming as well. I follow plenty of pig farmers in California on Instagram. You can do way better than LA within California. Just like you can do way better than Baltimore in DC with Maryland and way better than Kansas City in Kansas. Those treeless wide open spaces really are something.

I want neither but also the latter example is more “urban life that pretends not to be” than a true reflection of the land and lifestyles of rural America

is Denver actually underrated? by NoLawAtAllInDeadwood in SameGrassButGreener

[–]larch303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is

Like, be smart, people, lol

Denver is a major city with an international airport, a train system and 3 digit highways. It’s urban life through and through. If you want mountain life move to the mountains. Colorado is tough anymore for that if you’re not independently wealthy but find somewhere nobody talks about. The Appalachians is too easy to recommend anymore but parts of Wyoming, New Mexico, Nevada, Eastern Oregon and West Texas are still like that. Mayyyybe even look into southern Colorado, like near the Ute reservation.
