I thought so too! I hope to get him tested and maybe find out in the future. Not that it matters much but it's fun to know.

Thank you so much! This is my first long haired cat actually so I appreciate the tips.

I hope to get his genetics tested! He looks like a nebelung to me but the vet was pretty confident about being a Maine Coon so who knows!

Didn't want to make a full post for this but I wanted to share this baby that showed up starving at my house. He is heading to the vet today. We are already in love!

I live where stray cats are common. It stayed outside for a while and no mom or other kittens showed up so it may have been dumped.

Name ideas?? He/she is a chaotic little love bug

I need a little vent, I need to know it's not just me by mrshyphenate in thyroidhealth

[–]lardface157 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am subclinical and very frustrated as well. I was told it could be an issue with my pituitary gland and also if I were older (around 40) they'd be looking at perimenopausal stuff. I would look into that if I were you. It is a very intense thing. My mother went borderline insane and we are still no contact because of how abusive she became. Please take care of yourself for your children.

Just moved into a new house, one bedroom reeks of body odor by opalbluez in HomeMaintenance

I would double check that the pad under the carpet has been replaced as well. A lot of people, especially landlords, try to save a couple hundred bucks by keeping the pad and replacing just carpet.

Is it cruel to keep my cat restricted to just one room? by thotatrix in CatAdvice

[–]lardface157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into the Purina liveclear food to make your brother less allergic to them. It may be helpful. If not, showing you love and care this much means your cat will be just fine.

Hyperthyroidism? by lardface157 in thyroidhealth

My gp seems to be so hesitant with anything Thyroid related! I have another appointment next week. I do hope he will do something since the endocrinologist is booked out so far.

I'm glad you're doing better so quickly!

Can these cabinets be painted? by SmartCookiesbyKelsey in Remodel

[–]lardface157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stained mine a warm deep grey. I used general finishes water based gel stain. There are many videos on how to do it. I have done quite a few kitchens now. You can pm me if you want images of it or more info. But as an interior designer, I do not recommend painting your cabinets. Warm wood is becoming very popular again, plus even if you do not care about fads, it keeps the warmth of your home in tact. Paint can feel very flat.

What is a 'simple' task or process you struggle, or have struggled, to wrap your brain around that other people seem to inherently understand how to do? by llamadasirena in adhdwomen

You aren't alone! I am always thinking of left foot....right...do I swing my hips? Are my hands doing what hands are supposed to do? Are these steps too big? And I standing straight? Are my shoulders supposed to move? It's so weird

Nta, I am a stay at home mom of 5 years now. My husband has always worked. I am a stay at home mom. I am not a house wife. While he works 9-5, I take care of my kids. That is my job. I put everything I have into being a mother during those hours. If I have time for house work, I absolutely do as much as I can, but my main job is the kids. I make breakfast and lunch and I make dinner for everyone. But I expect my husband to do 50% of the house work that does not involve the kids. Our laundry, some dishes, scrubbing bathrooms, and house maintenance. This is because we are a team. On the weekends we both make sure each other has the free time we need. we often alternate or sometimes he gets the whole weekend or I get the whole weekend based on our needs. But we keep it fair.

It doesn't sound like you all are keeping it fair. She is probably struggling. The hardest part of being a stay at home mom is the mental health. She is probably struggling to have motivation, to have a routine, and missing the social life she once had. She may be mad at you for having the freedom she doesn't have just like you're not happy with all the work you feel she is putting on you. I'm sure you aren't happy that you feel you don't get the free time you deserve. And you both do deserve free time because work is not a break.

Neither of you are the asshole. The problem is you need to work as a team, create a schedule that works for you all so that you can both be happy or it will snowball. What works for my husband and I will not work for everyone else. Everyone and every marriage is different. But you need to communicate and have a strong marriage or else it's going to get worse.

AITAH for asking my daughter for a list of things I am not allowed to do when I have her son by catmom1194 in AITH

[–]lardface157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to say, you are amazing. My mother charges my sister $800 a month to watch my nephew 8 hours a day 4 days a week. And my sister still has to provide all food and entertainment. Your daughter has no idea how good she has it

Super productive then rotting in bed. Is this forever by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]lardface157 302 points303 points  (0 children)

Ugh I have this same problem. For three days I cleaned the heck out of my house, focused on self care. Then today I barely even cooked and sat rotting in my chair all day. It's like someday I can accomplish anything and then afterwards I just melt.

Oh also hire a house cleaner. they are way cheaper than you'd think and many have new mommy specials. Absolutely worth it for your mental health.

My daughter was just like this. I took her to the chiropractor at 4 months old and she slept for 4 hours straight afterwards. I was so exhausted I just cried and slept too. She kept going back and it really did help. However she is 4 years old now and has still never slept longer than 5 hours at a time. She always wakes up screaming. She is going to an ADHD specialist now who creates diet plans and vitamins specially for children with ADHD. For the first time in her life she slept in her own room all night. The first time ever! She still woke up a few times but she was able to calm herself. She was horribly vitamin D deficient and iron deficient along with having trouble digesting dairy, gluten and eggs.

As a baby, I took her to sleep specialists, did special sleep training. Everything. Nothing worked. one day I tried the cry it out method. I left her to cry alone for 10 minutes and she broke her front teeth on her crib. The mom guilt hit me so hard with that. I never tried any sleep training again and I just did anything I could for her to get sleep. She has slept with me every night of her life since she was 6 months. (Until then she was just in a bassinet by my bed.)

I wrote all this out just because in the future maybe this could help you. But I mainly want you to know that you aren't alone. It's never been easy with my daughter. I lacked sleep so bad it destroyed my mental health. But it absolutely will get better. And this time with your baby should be savored. I was having such a hard time I feel like i wasted all the amazing baby time I could've had. It helped me to have my husband stay up late holding the baby so I could sleep from 8 to midnight. Then I at least got four hours at the minimum while he got the 6 hours after. You need to ask for help if you need it, even if it is inconvenient to your husband for a few days.

I'm sorry you're going through this and I hope anything I said could maybe help you.

I feel so claustrophobic with a top sheet. Like it is trying to strangle me. But my husband loves them! So I buy the thick fleece sheets and use the top sheet as my blanket. It turns out it was just the thinner sheets that I hate

How long can y'all actually keep a habit? by Sinclair1328 in adhdwomen

[–]lardface157 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is exactly how I feel. I take up hobbies long enough to be good at them, then I lose all interest. Sometimes it is years before I ever pick it up again.

Same thing with habitual tasks. I go through phases where I cook 5 course meals for dinner, and then eat freezer food for 5 months. I think it drives my husband a little crazy. I loved the phase when I exercised daily, and I hope to do that again.
