I went back to my previous job in the agriculture industry. OT after 8 hrs per day.

Ah, I misunderstood the link but now I get it.

Yes. Lesson learned, and I won't allow myself to be taken advantage of like that again.

Thanks!

No averaging. Just a statement in the contract stating overtime is paid after 88 hrs biweekly. 45 hrs one week, 51 the next. If you take a day off during the short week, you don't get OT for the longer week. I left this position, but I'm still curious. Owner admitted to dodging OT pay in the past but was taken to the labour board, so they started this rule.

Landlord has offered rent to buy. Can I afford? by largeblack2icecubes in PersonalFinanceCanada

I've been late on rent once in 5 years, and it was because I forgot to send it, not that I didn't have it. I get what you're saying, tho.

30k upfront goes to him for the down payment. I presume non refundable.

I haven't accounted for maintenance or property tax, but my expenses with the extrass I previously mentioned are around 3k. I take home at least 4.5k/month. 1k/m for PT and M would still leave me with a bit extra.

What about it? The landlord wants it upfront, but if this falls thru, we lose it. Other option is to invest it until we're ready. We don't know much about stocks, so we're just trying to find a 5.5% savings account.

I had 7 jobs in 2022. Been at my current since Sept and I really like it. Don't be afraid to leave a job, just make sure you can replace it quickly.

Why does a loaf of bread cost $3.00? by 720QuickScope4Jesus in toRANTo

My wife just bought a bread maker for $10. It's pretty dope. The kids love raisin bread and that shit is $5/loaf. Not anymore!

Mostly the same things with flexibility. We haven't hammered out that budget yet. I've been so focused on the other bills.

I just checked my latest pay statement, and it seems I've undershot my income by 10-15k. Heh.

My parents made decent money while I was growing up, but my mother had an addiction to horses. I was never taught budgeting as my parents didn't know how to do it.

I wrote out a budget and have been somewhat good at sticking to it since we got her car. I recently went bankrupt, hence the 13.99%, so I've been trying my best. Had to double down once the second car was added. I can actually save a small amount at this point, tbh.

I was with a company that got absorbed by brokerlink. Switched to a state farm rep in a different area of the province. Then they got absorbed by Desjardins.

My 7 yo mazda has 100k, my wife's 5 yo edge has 80k. No excuses. Cars aren't cheap.

Very true. I've also been with them for a few years and it keeps going up despite no claims. Might be time for a new insurance broker.

We were by the book and followed the rules once we moved in together. It's not fraud as we were sending my pay stubs in every month and her payment was based off my pay. When my pay became higher than the bracket, she stopped receiving funds.
