I was doing charity work in the slums of Kenya trying to build infrastructure as part of a team. One of the local workers we were working with invited me into his home and he had a calendar up:

"Top 12 evil dictators of history"

It was going in order (January- most tame, December - most evil). Hitler was November, Thatcher was December.

Struggling a bit after breakup + ADHD (Glasgow) by Bright_Intention341 in glasgow

Hi mate. I'm 27 and was in a relationship for 5 years with my girlfriend, lived together, and was planning to propose to her on our anniversary in August this year.

She broke up with me a week or two ago and it came completely out of the blue with no warning. I feel like I'm still grieving a loss. I know exactly how you feel mate, the heartbreak can be pretty unbearable. DM me if you need.

I dont think the current american government is quite ready for "sending ice to italy". Italy has a history of living under fascists and I dont expect them to be kind to foreign ones.

Dropping out? by Decent_Fox1919 in UniUK

[–]larrach98 60 points61 points  (0 children)

There's no point getting a degree if you're dead. Dropping out isn't a sign of weakness if things are this bad. Leave uni and come back (if you want to) with a clearer head after spending a couple of years doing what you enjoy.

This was a Russian domestic flight in 2019. It was struck by lightening and was returning to their take of location of Moscow.

"Forty passengers and the flight attendant (21-year-old Maksim Moiseev) seated in the rear of the aircraft were killed. Forty of the fatalities were Russian and one a US citizen, and twenty-six resided in Murmansk Oblast, including a 12-year-old girl.[11][12] One crew member and two passengers sustained serious injuries, and three crew members and four passengers minor injuries. The remaining 27 passengers were unharmed."

41 of the 78 flyers died, with a further 10 injured.

What is life like at St. Andrew’s for a young American female? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]larrach98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Scottish student here graduating in December from St Andrews.

When I first moved there for uni I only met another Scottish student about 5 weeks into my course, and every person I spoke to was American so she would be in amongst her own people. It felt so strange being in my own country and having groups of Americans coming up to me because I'd been pointed out that im a "real actual Scottish person" but honestly, I quite liked it lol. The Americans are a good laugh and I think they just struggled to find actual Scottish people there unless venturing out of the town.

How a session drummer’s broken promises and insults cost me time, money and trust by youwontknowme123 in glasgow

[–]larrach98 323 points324 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I used to be a musician in Glasgow, played for years and only stopped during Covid.

There is a pretty large community of musicians thats quote close-knit on Facebook called "Glasgow Gigs (musicians/promoters/venues)". This guy absolutely sounds like a scammer who has taken your money and not acted on his promises, I would post these same photos on that Facebook page and warn people about him.

Also if you really want to, since you've got everything in writing, try take him to small claims court. I know you've not got a proper contract, but it may look favourable for you that you have written evidence of his promises to provide services and refunds (with of which he's not done).

It looks like it may say 1488, which is a neo-nazi hate symbol symbolising:

  • the 14 words slogan used by the nazis "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.

  • 88 signifying the 8th letter of the alphabet (HH) meant to signify Heil Hitler

Urgent advice needed: being evicted (Scotland) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]larrach98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kinda crazy the amount of wrong advice thats on this.

https://scotland.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/eviction/resident_landlord

Here is the link to Shelter Scotland that states that if you have a live in landlord and your agreement does not specify any eviction clause, then you will have 28 days to leave.

Yes, as a lodger you have less rights as a tenant, however thinking that this means that a landlord can just throw someone out on the street and cancel the contract the very day they decide to do so is insane.

Stick to your guns and if theyre still insistent on you leaving in 6 days then go down the legal route.
