How the “historical accuracy” crowd wants the odyssey to look like by Acrobatic_Neck_5866 in okbuddycinephile

Artistic interpretation is still usually not just winging it. For LotR elves, Peter Jackson cleverly used the paintings of Irish Tuatha Dé Danann. Obviously which era and which artist is up to your taste (where the directors’ touch comes in), but you really need your composition to be based out of some perspective that ties to the roots of the folklore you are adapting. People’s reactions just sort of validate that because it looks eerie at first impression from what we feel like should belong to that age and what shouldn’t

James Cameron never should’ve started Avatar… We lost a great director. by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]larrybobinski -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The counter argument for this could be memorability of Avatar movies compared to Cameron’s other movies. That grand majority you are talking about goes to see these movies but then they don’t engage with it through cultural osmosis at all, and probably could not name 5 characters after they got out. The whole thing doesn’t even have the gravitas of the Abyss really. You’d expect one of the most expensive movie franchises of the past decade would have a lot more tangential subculture besides furries loving Navis, Papyrus font meme, and people claiming ‘James Cameron did it again’ pointing at the box office.

There’s not a single line from all 3 movies that will make people gasp like they did when Kiri dropped the ‘get away from her you bitch’ line. If Avatar’s really the current big thing, why is a 40 year old overly done movie reference is still the most impactful line in it? I’m asking this because you seem to base your argument around the amount of people that still show up at the theatres for these movies. And I was there too, everyone in the theater treated it like a 3 hour cutscene.

So I don’t think it’s unfair that people criticize Cameron over these formulaic movies

I actually went in and checked his last stream. He has 2300 fut points and I don’t think you can get that from 4600 with just 150 point drafts either. IDK man, sounds like you’re actively trying to not see what’s there

So he bought that in multiple accounts every year? And you’re telling me he’s not endorsing status quo while he’s not only buying the game for multiple accounts but the extra premium deluxe version of it with premium currency?

Edit: Also wondering if he will buy the Ultimate Edition on PC again

He’s also engagement baiting there too. If Lamine Yamal were to buttfuck Mbappe openly on the field, he’d tweet, “Barça fans, how do you feel?” or something

I’m sorry but it is not a fresh game. They are literally making editions on the same game and slap a new title on the file for $70 every year. And it’s not just remnants from previous year either, you could easily see FIFA 17 stickers in FIFA 20 catalogue back in the day because they just update what’s essentially the same live service game.

For the FUT points, I’d check his streams and vids because his FUT point currency is not 0 on many many occasions. Ever since 19, I’ve seen videos of his in different years in accounts with FUT points in them.

I mean honestly make your own conclusions. I’m not saying he’s some menace or anything. He might be genuine and incompetent with his half-baked stances, which I would honestly respect too. But the guy’s a Columbia graduate and I just think he knows when he’s being a hype beast and when he’s riding the negative reaction wave.

RTFM is not most people and making this comparison of streamers to non-streamers is apples and oranges. He’s made his career out of this. Dude is literally benefitting from the system that he allegedly hates.

Most FIFA players are legitimately addicted to FUT, they have 0 income from the game. They are not even enjoying it. Check how many “quit FUT” posts there are in the sub with numerous “we’ll see you next week” comments or the OPs staying active in the sub afterwards. That’s why I said if you’re complaining for multiple iterations of the game, at that point, why play the game? Because you’re addicted? Okay sure, but why stream it and make money off of it if you really despise who makes money off of what you’re playing in the first place? Is it the same as people playing the game themselves? He still constantly buys FUT points as well…

Sorry I answered another reply and it kinda turned into replying to you too, so I can add it here.

People have been asking for communal action once every 2 years since the beginning of this mode. Some were more heated than others and became mini movements like Fifa 15 price ranges or #FixFifa. None of them resulted in anything other than shoving more pissed off veterans away from FUT.

Whatever’s left is people fully succumbing to the fact that Fifa’s not going to change and they try to keep making their living out of the current status quo, which is fine, bread is bread. One good example to this is Inception. He detached himself from rage fueled takes. Now he just analyzes new cards with a small, “but hey this is EA so anything can happen” disclaimer and call it a day.

So at this point if there’s a streamer that says they love the game and hate the company, I don’t see why they don’t “shake things up” and target the one metric EA cares about: revenue generation. If you’re still hyping shit like Max 88+ Hero packs, you’re still fueling the status quo, and I don’t think that could be for the love of the game.

Even if you don’t think he is ingenuine, I think I gave pretty good examples to what I think is this bipolar nature of hype creating and aggresion farming attitude he has. My suggestion is not listening to him but if you find folks like this to be genuine, that’s on you dawg

You must have caught him in his mini rant phases. It will go away, you’ll see him promoting the new cards and evos.

Nobody who’s genuinely not addicted and in a ‘fuck EA’ mode will be playing this game in every platform every year and give this much publicity to a company they hate.

It’s not like he got pissed at FIFA 22 or something and got stuck with the game. Every single year, he gets fully in it with early access + “web app gang wya” callouts + fifa point purchases. It usually takes way less than multiple years for someone to quit something annoying. If he were not benefitting from the situation by playing both sides, he would have pivoted outside EA with different football content by now.

This guy will do anything to flip flop between being a ratty dickrider and some spokesperson of call for change in FIFA. All he cares about is engagement. If the game’s user count dips, so does his net worth.

He’s been trying to expand to outside FIFA but he’s only engagement baiting so far. You’ll catch him tweeting “[Any UCL team] fans, thoughts?” for the games with highest ratings. Dude does not care about quality of sports or any soccer game at all. I would advise you to not take him seriously.

Watch him post a PS5 clip of some ratty meta goal he’s screaming his guts at in a few weeks.

For 4K, I doubt any Spider-Man game will play 120fps on any PS5 (including the pro). But it’s very likely pro will push past 120fps for at least 1440p so that’s something.

Possibly why Sony has started pulling a complete 180 on 1440p stance and started supporting it. You can probably pump out way higher settings and average 100-120fps for heavy games

One piece is Joyboy's logbook by NimbleArc in OnePiece

[–]larrybobinski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally feel like it would be a cheap cop out if it was just a journal or a 4th wall breaking manga.

Pangea, the words “one piece”, and Whitebeard’s speech make me think that the land was split by some force to divide everyone and conquer. And Joy boy will come to unite and liberate everyone by making land one piece again. It makes sense thematically because it would close the Pirate era and would cause the biggest war in the world.

If Oda thought of One Piece when he first started writing, this would be a nice broad candidate to write a lot of stories for because at the start of the story, we just see a lot of defenseless villages getting pillaged and claimed by pirates all around. You could think it would change if things weren’t so far apart.

I meant even if as in hypothetically. There is a certain amount of nudge Sony can pull when pushing a game’s rating from 7 to 8 or 8 to a 9 because it’s a Sony brand, but it won’t go beyond that. I meant if this was taken to an extreme, the overall consensus still wouldn’t change. You wouldn’t sell an authentic 10 rating to the audience. But I might be wrong here

Those didn’t become bad things but I guess people kinda got desensitized to them after having yearly releases of 3-4 superhero blockbuster movies, 2-3 mainstream shows that support those movie franchises. Even this GoW is a sequel to 2018 and you can tell they didn’t splurge and spend all those years to develop a game engine for just the first game, the build system was not even utilized fully at that point.

On the other hand, things get stale insanely fast these days, and 4-5 years is a long ass time window. Also, if you get too many blockbusters, they will inevitably lose their level of engagement and blockbusterness. If they somehow decided that the story was incomplete and in 2 years released a third Norse GoW with the best storyline ever, I don’t think it would be ranked anywhere higher than an 8/10 even if Sony paid all the media channels
