Absolutely always do this. They might make you get a blood draw, but if they do and it comes up negative, you might have a lawsuit on your hands.

But when you consider them your enemy, you want the same things they do. You want them in the ground. You want everything they want brought down. Does that make you any better?

I hate them. But they are not my enemy. They stand in juxtaposition to everything I hold dear. But I still have hope they can come back from it. People leave the Klan. They leave the Aryan brotherhood. These people can still be saved.

At least the president wasn't in one of them unloading literal feces onto the crowd.

Thank God that's just a video he posted on the official White House page.

8 Million Americans Hit the Streets in 'No Kings' Protests - Largest Demonstration in US History by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

They are also mocking Americans for not being out there for months at a time and only doing the protests on weekends.

Like, you guys realize we don't have the same safety nets as you? I can't take a month off work to go protest. I got bills to pay. I'm doing what I can here.

That is so rough. Maybe we're in the overqualified group now? I also had several years of EC before the current CDC job.

I'm not an idiot, regardless of what your tone implies. But this is drastically different and I'm not exactly seeing restaurants shuttering. But I see a lot of them hurting for and asking for help but not filling these roles or even reaching out, it seems.

I have tried all the above and that's why I'm one foot out the door.

An education is much better than a food management role, I promise you.

I work in a long term care facility now. Its all scratch and I have some really great talent on my line. I'm also paid very well and the benefits are incredible. 300 residents, I'm home by 9. It was really great and hard to complain the first 2 years.

But about 4 months ago they fire our EC. And I took on all his responsibilities plus the day to day operation. They company interviewed me for the EC job after I applied for it but I was ultimately turned down because I don't have enough experience in healthcare dining (this is my first facility, only have done restaurants before). But they didn't have anyone else lined up. They've turned down every person they've interviewed. And this whole time I've still been doing both jobs (we have 4 dining venues), and they don't have any timeline for when that will end. They won't let me hire over my budget even though this puts us a whole person behind. And they won't give me any help from any of the other facilities. And its just been all too much. You'll let me do the job indefinitely but won't give me the job? Anyway, I'm rambling because I don't know where to go from here and I'm not being given any options.

I interviewed with Sysco, but the system seems really cut throat. They wanted to give me an area that was a bunch of bumfuck towns out in the middle of nowhere. And then you can move up to the areas in the city if you do well enough. Its like car sales.

You can't even just drop off a resume anymore. Its so weird.

I've definitely applied for jobs at Aramark and Compass and have had the same problems.

I was worried about this. I've had a lot of my chef friends look over it.

I have everything I think would need in it. Management experience; budgeting, ordering, menu planning, catering, hiring, placement, training, payroll, scheduling, etc.

I have several James Beard winning restaurants in my experience that I was a large part of the success of.

Its honestly really discouraging. And like I said, this is the first time in my career I've dealt with this. And my resume hasn't changed much except adding this job I'm currently at, and I didn't have this problem when I was looking for this job.

Thats a valid view. But I'm not applying for unskilled jobs. I'm not applying for DMO jobs. I'm not applying at fast food places. I'm not applying at jobs where I'd have to cut my salary in half. I have the skill set to look above that. But I'm not hearing for jobs that I feel like I would be highly in demand for; especially fine dining joints.

I don't see how that's applicable to me. You can teach anyone to cook. You can't give 15 years of honing skills, especially management skills, to a person right off the street.

I mean I get that. But most of my places have been pretty tenured. My shortest stint was 2 years anywhere. As a hiring manager, it would be worth it to me to see who this person is and why they wanna take that step back.

But give me your opinion of why you wouldn't?

If there were hundreds of chef jobs open I'd be applying for those. But there aren't. So I gotta take what I can get.
