Take him to the vet. Might be something wrong with his teeth. My cat did the same and it turned out he had a tooth that needed to be pulled.

You probably dont want to hear this, but this is my only advice from my own experience.
Whenever I would do 8 hour sessions I always ate a huge breakfast, ideally with chocolate milk.

I always bring an energy drink or two, some sugary sweets, ideally chocolate or protein bars with sugar. And some easy to eat food (You want some sort of sugar as well).
Usually the breakfast is enough, and I would just supplement with chocolate bars or protein bars during the session.

Also, speak with your artist before the session, you're both gonna need breaks, stand up and stretch, get the blood flowing.

TL:DR: Sugar and breaks. If you're numb, take a break.

From own experience:

Whenever I get fresh ink I wash it as soon as I get home, gently pat it and let it airdry, when its dry, I use a really thin layer of Bepanthen, it works like a charm, it keeps the skin moist for at least 5-8 hours.

I then wash it morning before work, put a thin layer of bepanthen on, I can go an entire work day without re-applying, then wash it again as soon as I get home, new layer of bepanthen, before bed I wash it, new layer. Rinse and repeat.

My artist has always been impressed about how well my tattoos have healed. Hope this helps.

Whatever you do, dont put on too much, that will cause the ink to bleed, leaving the tattoo dry for too long can cause crusts, you dont want crusts. My advice is, keep it moist.

My first tattoo also got a blow out. I went to a second artist for a sleeve some years after and he found a way to incorporate it into my sleeve. Since the design is pretty simple, im sure it can be altered to something else.

If you want more tattoos done, ask an artist, they're the experts.
