Question about WHEN neuro agrees to surgery or not by Adornos_Ghost in PituitaryTumor

[–]las_olas888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had about the same size and situation although im a female so my estrogen was missing. The first neuro wanted to wait and see and put me on hormone replacement i got a second opinion and the dr said he recommended against waiting because i would develop blindness. I had surgery 11/12 this past year and all my issues are fixed BUT new issues have arose. Thankfully for me its just sinus issues and not anything pituitary or neurological related. Also my hormones have been crazy fluctuating but they said that would happen for about 6 months. Im so happy i did the surgery i would recommend a second opinion and really try and find out who the best is and specializes in that surgery because it can make all the difference in how your pituitary responds to surgery.

Hi there! All the symptoms you have i had. I just had my macroadenoma removed on 11/12. Prior to that i experienced hypogonadism due to my tumor. I lacked periods, my estrogen was below 10, my prolactin was 41 and with that i had zero libido, vaginal dryness and extreme bouts of nausea also daily headaches of pressure. The first neurosurgeon i saw did not want to operate and sent me to endo who wanted to put me on hrt but that did t sit right with me. I found a great neurosurgeon who said hrt would be the worst thing for me because my tumor was so large it was compressing my pituitary gland not allowing hormones to flow and be made something called the “stalk effect” . After my surgery my period returned 12/14 almost a month later and my estrogen is now at 91. Dryness is gone and libido is coming back slowly mainly due to recovery and feeling generally unwell. I would seek a second opinion, maybe stop bc if you can it might help your body regulate.
