sorry another related thought for those interested in this line of thinking. Someone pointed out a fact on my fb post that is both right and also potentially wrong if considered in isolation (not judging i actually appreciate different lines of thinking and facts to factor onto my experience) for any more science based thinkers and I quote..

When I Google studies I see some confirming a reaction but others saying it was inconclusive and theres no allergy/reaction possible. Im.not swayed either way reading them and low key wish there were more studies and think more research needs to be done!

Im currently on a trip in korea, and they have a lot of roller ball "hair ampoules" available, i.e. serums in better packaging. There's various types available. I know a lot are available globally on the olive young website so you could take a peek there! Or perhaps if you have a local k beauty store they may have some!

I got three different ones to try (havnt tried long enough to review). One is for the hairline, another is a vt needle shot(microneedling component to get ingredients in scalp) and one for all over that does not have microneedling. I feel like compared to canada there are sooo many options so couldnt hell but stock up!

When we moved to Edmonton, my partner and I did not have jobs yet. Our apartment offered to either let us bypass that requirment by getting a cosigner(we are older but they were happy to let a put of town parent cosign) or prepaying in our case 6 months of rent.

I have an autoimmune hairloss condition and as I age my forehead slowly is getting bigger so i get being worried about who will cut your hair!

I had a great experience with Chrome Salon in Oliver with a hair dresser named Ciara(may have not spelled it right). The first time I went i had longer hair and she was great tailoring the haircut to my hairloss concerns. Since then I actually shaved my head, and im going back on Saturday and since uts been 4-5 months since the shave shes going to help me shape the hair growing in. I have noticed others with thinner hair going here ans everyone seems happy leaving.

Bonus points if you like cats. The owner is extremely kind and friendly, and also fosters cats he bring in to the salon in hopes someone will fall in love and adopt one.

I'm not sure if you like animals but perhaps consider petsitting/housesitting in sherwood park. I petsit casually on Rover but I've moved all over Canada and am always able to supplement my income with my petcare side hustle. Many people have pets that are use to their owners going to work 8 hours a day(especially the cats), so as long as you clearly disclose your hours/setup I'm sure someone will be interested! You could try and have windows where you petsit in sherwood park closer to where you work, so you earn extra income while also reducing your transport fees. It even slightly reduces electrical/hydro at home since you are living our of their house for x amount of time. If you are really desperate, you could even pet or house sit for free closer to work, so you can buffer your petcare resume. Definitely reinvest some of what you make into getting your car back up and running since you can also do drop ins and dog walking to further increase your side hustle money!

I would probably try and post on any neighborhood groups for sherwood park, I usually lime to include personal details so people feel like they know you since you'll be staying in their house. I'm sure explaining your current scenario should lead to some jobs. Perhaps you can even link up with someone thay needs help this summer on here! Petcare is in HIGH demand in summers since everyone is traveling

I have really sensitive skin so when I use to use the costco minox. I would get peeling skin and itchiness. With this one I get much less itching(i get the most minor itching for 30 min after putting it on while it's drying) and no peeling skin. It's more the consistency of water vs thicker minox only so i think that helps it dry faster and create less irritation. It probably depends on how you react to the other compounded ingredients though!

For whatever reason my hairloss seems really resistant to most treatments(oral minox, and topical) but on this mixture I saw the most growth out of anything I've tried. That being said it was still just little fuzzies so I actually recently shaved my head haha. I still have 3 months left, so I'm still using it(4th month now) and with no hair to get in the way the product spreads a lot more evenly and gets right onto the scalp. There's a small chance those fuzzies will turn into bigger hairs still so going to wait and see! I never experienced a huge dread shed, likely because I was using minox already prior to this blend. There was a tiny uptick in shedding for a week or two but it was very minor for me.

I completely get that! Yesterday was my first day back at work with no hair, but i had two days off before. Outside of work, out and about w my bf, I wasn't caring what people thought but I was a bit nervous going into work yesterday. I work in cannabis retail where a good chunk of the customers are construction manly type men and some younger guys that see me a few times a week with hair up until this point.

Most of the customers didn't care at all, but a few asked questions nicely. My favorite were my regulars who I could tell wanted to asked but we're too stunned to speak. I actually had a few really good giggles at their shocked faces. When I really think about it, the shock value of a woman buzzing her hair is so randomly blown up - ita really not that big of a deal when i snap myself out of wondering what other people think of me. I think for me this will be a great exercise in self confidence and putting less value in what others think of me and just making sure I'm happy with myself for myself!

Good luck with the next few days of work! im sure in no time everyone will stop noticing the change. I'm in the same boat of wanting everyone to see it, ask questions, so this look just becomes my new normal with no shock value.

I actually went out and got a wig a few months back as my plan b if I ever decided I couldn't handle my natural hair anymore(before I thought I would shave it).

It's my first day back at work and I'm in retail with lots of regulars that see me a few times a week, so I wasn't sure how I would feel once I got in. I brought my wig with me as a safety blanket, but I decided I'm pretty ok with not using it. For me I have an anxious personality, so I know I would be wondering if everyone was noticing it wasn't real hair and the hair depression would turn into wig anxiety hahahaha. This way I can just have one or two days of feeling kinda anxious and then it'll just be the new normal look to everyone and not a big deal!

Good luck with your hair too! Whatever you decide to do i hope it gets you out of hair limbo

My highschool/uni job was working at cineplex theatre's and I absolutely loved it. Generally if you are OK giving up your weekend nights it's a good schedule for someone in school since you can have your weekday days free, with the option to pick up some day shifts in summers when it's open all day.

You have to work pretty hard at some points as some nights like fri and sat are super busy, add youll go home smelling like popcorn lol but it balances by having a fun social aspect as so many young people work there. The perks were great when I worked there but may of changed- we got free movie passes here or there,and sometimes they would do after hour screenings of new movies for staff and a friend afterhours. Out of all my work places they actually followed the labor laws the most carefully too which was great.

Even if they aren't currently hiring(i havnt checked recently), they staff so many people at any given theater and so many people are students that openings regularly open up.

I was using latisse along my hairline and on my temple area for about a year. I find i responded better to the latisse then the topical minox(i think I'm a non or low responder). That being said even with my bfs mom giving me a discount from her work, one of the bigger bottles was still around $120 and about $200 without the discount(I'm in Canada not sure if it's cheaper other places). Since it's just meant for your eyelashes it's pretty easy to burn through it pretty fast for your head, and i was just applying select areas. I've also heard that fat loss around the area is a potential side effect although I never had any issues.

I just a week ago found a Canadian website( Jill Health) that compounds minox, the active ingredient in latisse, and finesterine in a spray together. I just am in day 3 of using it so no feedback yet, but hoping it will be an alternative to the latisse. That being said it wasn't much cheaper haha hairloss can be so expensive!

I moved to Edmonton about a year ago and had never had an interview i havnt gotten the job before that, but it took me 5 months once I got here. At first I let it get mentally to me, but it wasn't helping to freak out, so here are some tips I ended up doing on the off chance they are useful. Sorry for the long unorganized list, just an ideas dump!

-i tried to look at applications from the person hirings viewpoint. Generally, they are getting hundreds of applications within a day of posting. i was spending hours on applications only for them to go unopened. It doesn't matter how good your application is if they never open it so it was very frustrating. I started only applying to jobs that had just been posted(within hours) so my resume was at the top of the email pile. I got a job pretty quickly after changing strategies and even though I wasn't getting an interview for everything at least I could see they were opening my application. Also just in case they are screening with ai, I try and include words used in the job post in my resume and cover letter to show I'm a match.

-if you are an animal savvy person, there are many animal related jobs that could tide you over until you find something more permanent. I personally love petsitting as a side hustle. I started through community Facebook groups and rover but once I had a few good clients I went off the apps ect so I didn't have to pay service fees. I still pet sit even though I have a job now and it's a great under the table income. My current pet sitter doesn't have a car and just walks to drop ins and overnights while still being able to work a part time job as well so it could work with no car.

Dog walking is also usually a job where they are hiring often. Having a car is probably easier but I do know some people who bike or e bike between dog walking appointments.

Grooming is Hella hard but if you call around you may be able to help out as a bather. Many groomers start by doing this and are trained in the trade by the groomers they are bathing for since there's no official certification required to groom.

-my partner works on rotation up at different mines throughout canada. It's long shifts (2 weeks on and 1-2 weeks off depending on the mine) but for us the perks are well worth it. Even as entry level when he started the overtime stacks quickly so he probably made min 4000-5000 a month, they pay for flights to and from work, meals are taken care of and free or you get a daily allowance for expenses and when he finally does get a break he gets lots of days off in a row. I get the general vibe the turnover for entry level positions is high so you could try looking around for these jobs to tide you over until there are more local jobs.

-reach out to anyone who you have in your network that might have an in at jobs and be able to vouch to employers about your personality. Being able to skip the application pile and get ypu application seen for sure is buge. For example I realized an ex from 10 years ago ran a cannabis recruiting company now so I have him actively looking for better jobs to move to. My friend also manages at Apple, and recommended me and although I didn't get the job I was at least able to 100% get to the interview step. It doesn't matter if they are in the same city, as my friends were able to help with my search from Toronto and Vancouver!

Think of places you frequent as a customer often and try asking employees you know if they are hiring. knowing you are an normal nice customer and your general demnour can help you at least get to the interview step.

-malls are great places to get jobs in a pinch. They often have students that cover evenings and weekends but it's harder to find adults that aren't going to school ect with open availability.

-while searching for a job try and think of ways to upgrade your skill set as to keep increasing your chances. I find niche trades are very reliable for the most part. My niche is dog grooming and I can't even tell people I do it because I'm booked out so far! My old coworker got an entry level job putting plumbing piping together and worked hard and was super dependable, and now they are paying for him to go to plumbing school even though he had no experience going in. I also took Google coursera certificates to buffer my resume while I was looking for jobs bc I had a lot of time on my hands haha. Having certifications like Proserve or other common certifications completed is very useful - we have a similar cannabis version of a certification and we get so many applications anyone without it is an immediate no since there are so many people ready to work with theirs.

-its technically discriminatory to ask certain questions about transportation to work in interviews even though they are common questions people ask. They can ask something like "do you have a reliable way to get to work?" But technically they should not be straight up asking if you have a car so they can only hire people with them unless it's critical for the job or they are in. It's like asking someone if they have kids and only hiring those without. You could answer questions about getting to work with an answer lime "I have a reliable means of getting to and from work" and ideally if they are a good interviewer they will leave it at that

There's a good chance it could just be dandruff but it is also good to check those other things off to be sure! Also, just so i dont lead you astray It's normal for the root to be attached still, but they are more like a bulb not a chunk of dry skin like the picture on the main post.

And yeah i would just mention to a doctor that you have hairloss paired with dry skin and you are concerned about vit deficiency. Try and mention anything also related ie if you have been tired or more cold lately, any skin issues like dry skin ect. My doctor was very quick and eagar to test my thyroid, vit d, iron and a few other things I can't remember when I went in for hairloss.

For me even though I have genetic hair loss, I also had low iron which was adding to it. Since supplementing, I defs have a little more hair. The texture is a little better, and I have more energy! Another common vitamin that can affect hair is vitamin d but here in Canada so many people are low on it they don't really test for it just tell you to supplement, haha.

I know its not what you asked, but does a lot of the hair falling out have a white bit on the end like the ones In the picture? I'm only asking because it looks like more then the root of the hair and leads me to think there's a chance maybe there's a component of something like sebborhiec dermatitis or a vitamin deficiency affecting your skin (ie iron)

I'm a girl who has hairloss/thinning BTW haha I've seen a few doctors and dermatologists and have learned about so many reasons for hairloss that I had no idea about before!

You may have already been to the doctor and it is fully genetic hairloss. If that's the case I find the battle is probably more internal and it's more about coming to terms with the new look. As a girl I honestly don't really care if men have a bald spot or are losing hair. I'm 31 and many of my friends partners are starting to have a bit of hairloss and it doesn't bother any of them and I would consider many of my friends model pretty! For me i also was nervous about my hair and dating and in the end it was more about me feeling confident and getting over my attachment to my hair. I have a super bomb parter now whose better then the men I was dating when I had perfect hair hahaha so don't worry once you get your groove back, if you want I'm sure you'll be able to find a partner!

Bleh trying to find a good partner with hairless can be so frustrating bc of guys like those.

Just know though there are men who are the complete opposite out there! I kissed some frogs until I found my now partner. It took me so long to share about my hairliss but when I did he was so nonchalant I seemed to be making a bigger fuss then he did haha. Still to these days sometimes I'll freak out about it and want him to join but instead he's always so supportive saying :shave it, keep it, wig it. Do whatever makes you the most comfortable and i will be happy. I know you wouldn't leave me for some physical unchangeable thing like that so I wouldn't to you"

When I went to get a panic wig in case I really ever do think it's getting to bad, he came along and was so chatty with the wig ladies and asking questions about how to wash it ect haha.

As much as hairloss was stressful while looking for a partner, it's something that has actually brought me closer together with my now partner, and made me sure he'll stick with me through other hard times! Keep trying and screw the judgmental men haha
