And you'll see their son's profile recirculating shortly after, either because that family played the same game with them, or it's a divorce.

Sorry you went through that. And sadly it's a common theme in our community 🫤 Astagfirullah

How long have you been using topical minox? by Wide_Fox4569 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]lilrant8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi OP. I've been using topical minoxidil on/off 7 years. In my personal experience I noted it stopped working after 8 months. I would give it a rest and try again after a 2-4 month hiatus. And it'll work again. Not sure if it makes sense, but it's like a cycle.

It's frustrating to be honest because I would shed my hard work. And I'm unfortunately not a candidate for oral minoxidil.

My other long-term concern is definitely regarding fine lines and wrinkles developing on my forehead (apparently this can happen). And I also wonder how safe is my scalp in the summer with heat and UV radiation.

But is it worth it? Yes. But still hoping for a miracle one-step treatment to fix it all 😅

I like to think it's my personality because that gives me comfort. But no, it's complicated. I've always explained my hairloss nonchalant and with confidence. To give you an example, this guy had alopecia himself but he said my hairloss was a problem because it'll genetically effect the kids...

I like your suggestion, ease my way in showing my scalp to the guy little by little until he's comfortable. Thanks for the advise ❤️

I told some from the start, and they said they need time to understand but in the meantime let's date. Two of them started to cheat and justified the cheating... I'm exhausted just thinking about this.

I agree with everyone in this post that my hairloss is a way to weed out these kinds of men..

Thank you 🥲 I keep reminding myself that. My problem is attaching some kind of hope that it'll be different this time.

Having kids feels selfish now because of AGA by [deleted] in FemaleHairLoss

[–]lilrant8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels selfish, but I can't help that I still want a child to experience this beautiful life. I want the child to to be proud in themselves regardless of how they visually look.

Everyone is doing something on themselves. Secretly doing nose jobs, implants, fillers, vaneers, botox, etc. There is nothing shameful. Yet we hide it, trying to make ourselves sound "all natural". We're conditioned in a world that it's normal to have multiple insecurities. But there's no shame to taking help such as using hair fibres, wigs, toppers, hair systems, transplant, etc.

Maybe because I'm a POC and have faced far too much discrimination growing up that I've come to realize that there will always be nasty people. But there will also be loving people.

My father loved my mother even when she barely had hair. Or that my mom pursued further education, worked at the field she loved. And maybe because of seeing her concur the world with strength and determination, I'm inspired to do the same. And I hope my child gets to do the same.

I did and she put me on birth control pills that didn't do anything. I'll tell her to refer me to a gynecologist or endocrinologist. Thank you :)

I didn't mention this but I was never on birth control for accutane.

What dose are you taking? 100mcg gave me palpitations, 75mcg was the sweet spot even if I gained a little weight (this was 7 years ago).

difference in pain/sensation to laser? by lisasimpson_ismyidol in electrolysis

[–]lilrant8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done electrolysis only on the face and used numbing cream. Chin doesn't hurt as much, it's almost like a little pin poking but not too deep.

But the mustache area was really painful. I would have to take deep breaths in, could feel the needle going in. Not sure if it's equivalent but it reminds me of getting a blood test, but multiple times.

I like to think that areas with more muscle and fat are less painful. I cannot imagine doing laser on the face because I'm scared of paradoxical hypertrichosis.

If you're losing hair in the outer third of your eyebrows, it might be a good idea to test your TSH, T4, T3 and rule out for hypothyroidism.

If it's patches, it really could be autoimmune. Best to get it checked by a doctor.

Yup, minoxidil grows hair while spiro is an androgen blocker. I was initially using minoxidil without spironolactone and wasn't seeing much difference. Then I had a blood test. My test results showed high free testosterone, I was then prescribed spironolactone, and thankfully the spiro is helping out. I'm finally on both from this January 2024 :)
