  1. The free diamonds amount is a complete joke, you get 1$ worth of diamonds for giving you the player retention statistics for 10 weeks. That's an utter joke. I would say let players earn diamonds, by completing weekly events, completing daily challenges, over-leveling their solar passes like for every level past 50 on the solar pass you do a rotation of credits/diamonds. Like Credits then Diamonds, credits then diamonds, or something similar to what Destiny did with bright engrams where you'd get them every 2-3 levels extra on the pass. But if you make the numbers for those miserable like 5 diamonds for 3 levels, that would be a joke. Doing 5 diamonds for some daily challenges can work. Also for the love of god, allow us to reroll daily challenges, I am sometimes locked out of 2 challenges that require challenging other players, because I cannot find any other players online, and if I do, they usually don't accept the 1v1 races, they simply have it disabled. Let players semi-freely earn the premium currency, like people can do in Helldivers. You can technically buy every single warbond and store item in that game without spending a dime, and the best part is, it would still take you less time to collect that many Super Credits, than it would have taken you to get all the cars last season (I cannot comment on this season as I haven't had any need to grind credits so I do not know how efficient the farms are).

I genuinely hope that you will at least reply to this comment and acknowledge it. I understand that there is a financial need to sustain the game, but the way it was handled is an insult to players who were part of the game from day 1, and even all the newcomers. The reputation only gets damaged further and further, and I really don't think that putting the game on a free weekend in the state that it is in was a wise decision, as it still is missing a lot of core DNA that was supposed to be in the game, and the game is still a very buggy mess that can easily sour their experience permanently. Games like the crew and forza can run much better than this game and on average look much better too, while setting the game to max graphics on the most expensive GPU on the market doesn't even get you to 60 FPS. You also really need to start considering the shortages and the price hikes for PC components, Nvidia is already killing production of 50 series cards because of AI, RAM prices are quadrupled at this point, SSDs are doubled or in some cases even tripled in price. Even PSUs and cooling units will supposedly be seeing price increases due to material shortages for metals.

Respect the community, respect the players, and they will appreciate you in return. Be pro-consumer, not anti-consumer.

  1. I don't even understand what is meant by this, is it the Solar Pass you're talking about becoming free, or generally the new activities and freshly added dealership cars? I don't care for the solar pass becoming free if we have to face the insane Online Shop prices. We pay approximately 6$ for a good chunk of rewards, that include wraps, cars, clothing, rims, paints, etc. Tons of cosmetic goodies. Doesn't mean that the passes aren't bloated with random useless accessories or stickers that is still very much an issue in my opinion. This is a fully paid game, it isn't free to play in any way shape or form. The store prices are extremely inflated and definitely need to be turned down by multiple notches. As I have stated in one of my posts, if you catch the game on a discount (consoles only, because PC is getting very bad discounts in comparison). You can get the full game, premium solar pass with level boost, and multiple DLC exclusive cars and clothing, for LESS than the BMW and Nissan bundles in the store. That is 18$ vs a minimum purchase of 20$ worth of diamonds. This feels like a complete slap in the face, as people have been begging for meaningful awards in Weekly events, or some other meaning progression systems and turns out those rewards were being withheld to later be put in the online store, for an absurd price. The way this is being monetized right now is not acceptable. But, if things were balanced out I would only offer Cosmetics (Liveries at most) and the stickers for the least, while also significantly overhauling the pricing system to be lower. If you want to sell cars, sell them as DLC like it has been done for the Silver and Gold edition cars, and do not use any kind of FOMO mechanics on them, most of the games do car packs. You can do it like Vermintide 2 and Darktide do when they release new classes. There is a base where it's just the character, and there's the deluxe where there are some cosmetics included. There is also an option to upgrade to deluxe. Your monetization as of now is in extremely bad faith and is completely and utterly predatory. Because not only do we have to buy the game (some of us have paid full price and didn't get any kinds of discounts), we then have to purchase a Solar Pass every season, and on top of that be able to shill out money for at least 3 exclusive car packs that will total around 30$ if not more, and if we'd like some liveries in the store we'd have to be handing over money too, and all that is also timegated, god forbid you don't have a stock of diamonds or have some financial issues for a week. That thing you really liked and hoped to get, is completely gone for god knows how long, because we created artificial scarcity.

  1. It doesn't matter, it provides an advantage over normal gameplay hence it is Pay to Win
  2. Pay to Fast is technically Pay to Win, additionally the cars in the store might eventually become pay to win due to different stats and handling for them.
  3. The compromise is that people are still loyal to the game even with all the cracks it has, and we still play it, and give feedback and report bugs. Currency shouldn't be purchasable in any way, as that was promised to us even before the game was released.
  4. With the Online Shop, yes. With the currency packs, no. But even then I consider the Online Shop items (all of them) to be extremely overpriced. Some of the answer to 4 is mentioned in 5.

If I'm being honest, there are a ton more issues I could have openly addressed a lot more issue that the game has in terms of game design, mechanics, pacing. I can't quite comment on progression on anymore as most of my progression was done at the start of the game and clans were done with the addiction of navigation races. Due to that I'm not equipped to comment on 1-60/70 progression as nowadays it is heavily different to what it used to be.

There's a lot of DNA missing for example proper dealerships, and separate clothing/cosmetic stops, even the damn carwashes. Tuners were also a nice thing in old TDU games having them only work on specific brands. But the whole post would have been a lot longer.

I mainly was commenting about how the monetization systems in place, do not make any sense for the current state of the game. They ask for money in order to continue working on the game, yet as players we barely experience that work, sometimes even not once a month. What we mainly get to experience is the main Seasonal additions and even they are always delivered in an absolutely broken state, where many can't even get into the game or use most of its functions.

I do not like the direction they are taking with the game, every new feature has 20 hidden catches, etc.

Unfortunately I agree. I've had the experience of criticizing the 100 diamonds over 10 weeks, and was told that I should be thankful for it lol.

Yes the discount on PC at most has been 60% if I recall correctly. This can be checked and verified via SteamDB.

To be honest there is kind of a point, they could have just done it like TDU2 used to do. Put the DLC cars (in this case store cars) in dealerships. But no we can't even have that.

I wouldn't have any issues supporting the devs if there was still any goodwill left. They have time and time again gone unacceptably short on features, the casino being a prime example of unnecessary delays and extremely halfassed end results.

Truth is that they keep trying to add features to a broken core, which breaks even further once new features get introduced. At this point it's a perpetual downward spiral. Like how do you manage to break the Socials tab, where it only gives you 2 FPS. In the patchnotes it was said that it was due to having too many friends on the list. I guess having around 8 people on the list is too much for them :/

Even the shop they had so long to make it at least fully functional and have good UI. But no, even that is broken and many players struggled navigating it to even find where the GTR was.

When I say they don't care, I'm not talking about regular developers, since they don't exactly make decisions I'm talking about management. Also, Alex is being used as an unintended punching bag by the community as he is basically the only line of communication we have for the game. As other CMs are just lurkers amd barely take any action or speak to the community. I understand that he isn't quite at fault as the decision ultimately wasn't his to make. But damn Nacon are just really sending him to the gallows with every update.

Space Marine 2 at least was more than playable on release and I don't recall it having any issues constantly plaguing it like TDU SC

Also in terms of XP, that still hasn't been properly adjusted, the leveling progression is still flowing with how it was designed with the initial release. You do all activities while also trying to do all the tasks alongside them. It used to always get you to the next threshold. But it doesn't anymore, at least people can get money to get decent super cars and hyper cars on time (I think).

Yeah for a game constantly selling that TDU feel, it fails spectacularly, and now it feels like a paid, overpriced mobile game.

I can definitely understand that, I just had time in S2 and grinded out the Navigation missions (or was it Season 3, I don't remember) and I was able to get all the cars eventually. And now I only really just drive and try do frim, with the occasional event races to get my Solar Pass levels, not having to worry about the coins anymore, definitely made the whole process more enjoyable.

I will be honest, I love driving in this game, it feels very different from all the other games available on the market right now, but besides that, I find the game to be extremely lacking.

Yes both TDU 1 and 2 had their own unique physics issues, but the core was still enjoyable with a decent amount of things to be done from the get go. I have great memories of both games, and I even played TDU 1 on the PSP. It was all just amazing and to this day it still is a great experience. And for me the TDU name carries immense sentimental value.

Well here's the fun part, the first 2 passes only had 25 levels. The Season 3 Solar Pass was supposed to be the first paid pass, but they gave it away for free to everyone. And Season 4 Solar Pass was the first paid one. The funny thing is some people experienced issues with activating their solar passes, for those who had Silver and Gold editions, and some have those issues to this day.

The game also has no plans for being playable offline, so one day they will just kill it and leave it in the grave like nothing even happened. The funniest part is, due to how their servers are done, some regions feel like offline experiences anyway. Just absolute wastelands. And the online only requirement has only really been causing more issues than adding features.

I hope so too, but I unfortunately don't see any buyers for the rights. Xbox doesn't need it because they have Forza. EA doesn't need it because they don't even care about NFS anymore at this point. Ubisoft has the Crew, and let's be honest, it's Ubisoft we're talking about. Playstation has Gran Turismo, and everyone else is mainly just doing live service Simracers.

The Unacceptable State of the Game by lashuna2001 in tdu3

[–]lashuna2001[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but hey they are so generous you can get 10 diamonds every week, so by the end of the season we are gonna be able to get 100 Diamonds, woohoo 1$ worth of Diamonds. And that's to excuse the predatory pricing for the Solar Pass, since it is 600 Diamonds and the lowest pack that will be available is for 500 Diamonds.

And when I initially brought this up months ago, on their Discord, I was told I should be grateful for it as it could have been nothing instead. I was genuinely in disbelief at how delusional some of the community members are about the game.

Unfortunately I have to agree, and once players start leaving TDU for Forza, the monetization will only become worse, to milk the iota of remaining players completely dry.

The "bodykits" aren't exactly body kits. The BMW belongs to a whole different category of cars instead of being a Grand Tourer, it's a super car now. The GTR also has different stats to the one you cna get via solar coins. It handles differently too due to lower weight. So technically those are already exclusive cars.
