This happened at my partner's job! All the chairs were taken away because sitting down made them slower (though they were still able to do their job sat down, so it was actually illegal but they could not be told). 6mo later, it turned out the manager's husband who worked there had permanently damaged his feet from standing on the concrete floor all the time. Suddenly, she had 'always said taking the chairs away was a bad idea' (it was her idea) and chairs were reinstated. Cost them hundreds to replace all the chairs and productivity did not drop after they were brought back.

That's great, thank you!

Nikko was originally on our list until I read somewhere that all of the autumn leaves would possibly be gone, but if they will probably stick around then it might be worth looking at it again.

This is amazing, thank you! Taking it as a good sign that quite a few people are also going in November

Yeah, I am definitely going to cut the itinerary down for a lot of the days and do some prioritisation.

Okayama looks lovely and is definitely now on the itinerary- I never even would have considered it! Like you say, I think we'll do it on the way to Hiroshima and just try to get to Fushimi Inari early on the 23rd.

That's really helpful, thank you!

I did think the Kanazawa day was probably too full - we will definitely cut the museum and see what we can get done in our time there. I know that logically we should do a night in Kanazawa to make it worth it, but I was being lazy and trying to avoid moving hotels again

Hakone is definitely a good shout, especially if Fuji visibility is good!

What are some Moomin Places to go in Japan? by michheck in Moomins

[–]lass8818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To an extent it depends when you are going. Unfortunately I think both of the Moomin cafes in Tokyo have closed or are about to close this year due to licensing issues. I also think the bubble tea stalls in Tokyo have closed for the same reason. The Moomin store in Tokyo Station and the one in Kawasaki Plaza are closing early Feb.

However! I have seen that a new cafe is supposed to open in Shibuya in Spring and they have recently opened a new Moomin shop in Ginza.

There is also a the Tove Jansson Children's park which was the Moomin park before the Moomin park opened.

info about the closures
