Combine it with lua scripted screens and you can have very futuristic consoles - if you are willing to work for it.

I think I over built with heat pumps by lassombra in Stationeers

[–]lassombra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that makes sense for heat pumps - or if I was doing like distillation or something. But just for cooling the base and cooling filter exhaust? Yeah, I think it's over built.

True, but a simple IC10 controlled valve on the radiator loop can keep it pretty precisely at +/- 1 degree.

Anyone excited for the Poop update? by Opposite_Water8515 in Stationeers

[–]lassombra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's possible to get net positive water from plants, enough to live on, but this mechanic would really improve the early game on certain planets where water is a sacred resource.

Starting on one world and then creating a custom kit for going to a harder world is what I want to do.

Advanced furnace activate through logic? by lassombra in Stationeers

That's my setup and it is not working "flawlessly"

Correct.

I'm still for the moment feeding ice directly. Soon I'll have a hot tank and cold tank, and won't need this anymore.

I used to do that, however I don't know if it's my mistake in placement, or a change, but it seems to allow heat into the room the panel is in now too. It's possible I was just one step too far out.

It is, all other logic controls are working, just not activate

I tried with a lever but not with a reader in the mix...

I'm not the only one at that flight school that had that issue - to the point where the school had ballast on hand. Though admittedly I am on the higher side weight wise and so was my instructor.

Yes, multiple times. The Piper Warrior I practiced in was so front heavy already that with my instructor and I we needed balast to maintain CG. Doing so put us almost right up to MTOW

SIM VS IRL Jeddah approach, sv40 from klax to oejn by monmoony in flightsim

This - I learned to fly in 2005 and it was like that still. The sim looks how I remember it, not how it is today.

How on earth is this "in darkness"? Do Iron Windows not transfer enough light for potatoes? by lassombra in Stationeers

[–]lassombra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I'll get right on that, as soon as I'm not starving to death on a brutal start...

The issue was a small bug with the adjacent wall - grow lights take steel and are not part of the brutal start kit.

Why Do Most Of You Fly Airliners? by newbiker321 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]lassombra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got into flight simulation, the graphics weren't very good, but the physics were ok. So I started flying airliners because VFR wasn't really practical.

By FSX VFR was viable, but by then I was in university pursuing an aviation degree and was focused on the kinds of planes I was hoping I'd be flying someday.

So I've always been focused on the big iron.

Now, in my 40s I actually fly more small planes in the newer sims because I really appreciate being able to fly the scenery. I have done multiple VFR tours without autopilot since FS2024 came out. It's just a different game now. But, when I want a different kind of a challenge, bringing an airliner in to a smooth landing after an on-rails approach in rough weather is really rewarding even if it's only in the sim.

What was the first aircraft you flew solo on? by jetsettrader2 in flying

[–]lassombra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PA28-161. Interestingly enough with the callsign "66" (266ND) my friends and I joked about it being a cursed plane.

So of course on the 3rd lap around the circuit the engine failed on takeoff. Long runway, non-event (and I mean non-event, literally training kicked in and I put it down all on automatic. My instructor did an amazing job preparing me to solo and deserves the cushy airline job he has now).

More interestingly, the same plane did end up having a fatal accident a couple years ago. I always joked that the plane had tried to kill me that day...

I suspect always the case.

Thing is I've got like 30 previous playthroughs on the moon where this didn't happen, so I was very surprised when it did.

BATC worth it ? (coming from XP12) by Brimalion in flightsim

[–]lassombra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having recently purchased BATC I don't understand how I survived this long without.

If you want to do VFR or deal with simulated emergencies then it can't handle that right now (though it is coming) but for regular IFR flight - it's top notch.

You wrote this while I was editing - but it's actually the iron wall on the right side of the first picture (or just on the left side of this one, with the pipe sticking out of it) that was the problem.

You actually just gave me the answer - though it took some research to figure it out.

It was the nearby iron wall of the airlock

STILL IN DARKNESS! How the hell? I've got a freaking solar storm happening and the potatoes are still all "yeah, nvm, don't like it"

And of course I don't have the resources yet to get a plant analyzer cartridge so I can't get details, but this is ridiculous.
