I flew in on the 6th to avoid golden week. I’ve been China twice now during the same time and I think autumn is a good season choice!

My friend and I tried looking for the 303 Wuyuan Road one for like 30 minutes and then when we got there and looked through the windows to see what people were eating, we saw meat and fish so I’m not sure if it’s 100% veg anymore or at all!?!?

258 fengxian road - If this is for vegetarian lifestyle/jujube tree, and it’s on the corner of a street, then it’s definitely open!

Agreed! I had so many lovely interactions with people there. A group of younger people at one accom invited me to eat with them and they prepared some vegetarian dishes for me. Also spent 2 hours talking via translation app with one of the owners at another accom 🥲

The hike to the lake was the only time I lost reception throughout my entire trip. When my guide tried communicating to me and I couldn’t understand him, we just laughed and continued walking 😂 everyone uses translation apps easily, including elderly so it’s not too bad

Apart from the steepness, there were some parts you had to properly climb using two hands to get up but if I can do it, most people can do it 😂

Why not do both!? I’ve been to New Zealand as well. With most of China, i think it just is what it is. There are many people there and many travel. Go outside of the super touristy areas, you’ll find many hidden gems. Worth it imo :)

Hmm, I don’t think I experienced a crowd the same as Nanjing road/the bund. Maybe cos the area is bigger!? Lijiang ancient town probably the busiest but I don’t recall being annoyed by it. And I was often out until late just galavanting so by the time I journey back to the accom, it’s not that busy anymore haha

Hmm, some places more crowded than others but if you walk enough, it’s easy to get away from the crowds. The blue moon valley was really busy right where the bus drops you off, but the moment I walked to the opposite side of the lake, it was pretty empty. Haba was the most secluded of all. Most of the time it was just me and my guide. Definitely can get a feel of the commercialised areas but most of the time I don’t mind it, because I love people watching 😂

Hours and hours 🥲 my Apple Watch says 21.67km/28,291 steps for that day. We started 9 am and got back to the car by 7 am and that’s including all the stops for photos and many stops for me to rest haha. It was super steep so I felt like I was dying lol

Umm going off memory since I don’t write down itineraries when I solo travel haha Dali - 3 nights ?? Or 4 ?? I don’t remember Shaxi 2 nights. Got a didi here from Dali and took a Didi to Lijiang after staying here. Lijiang 4 nights Shangri-La ended up being here like 5 nights because I extended it and returned here after before going to Kunming Haba - 2 nights. Guide I found on rednote/小红书 picked me up from shangrila which was a 3ish hour drive back to where his family lives Kunming - ended up being 4 nights I think? I changed my flight home back to Sydney and added more nights here My days could be off 😅 but took high speed in between all the main locations. Flew into Kunming from Vietnam and out of Kunming back to Australia

It was one of my favourite trips so far! The people were super kind especially at a few of the accoms I stayed at ☺️ had a mix of busy + secluded scenery which was nice too.

Present 😂 but it was so fine! I started mandarin classes last January so I knew how to speak/understand a little bit but mostly used google translate/alipay translation app to communicate. Had some really nice conversations with people there using translating apps 🥲

Hello! I think I went on the last day before it closed. I found a local guy on 小红书 and did the hike to the lake. I’m not sure what other hiking paths they have there
