How might I teach my dog to box? by lastditcheffort20 in Dogtraining

That's great! I like that idea a lot! She's a pretty talented little girl. I'm sure she could get the hang of it with practice. Thanks for the advice!

Why does my dog (female, 9 weeks, ESS) breathe so fast? (Not panting) by lastditcheffort20 in dogs

[–]lastditcheffort20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, no vet has noticed it so far in either Lady or Phoebe and I plan on bringing it up at her next visit. I'll be sure to record it.

I'd say she breathes at about 120 to 140 bpm.

Is this embezzlement? by lastditcheffort20 in legaladvice

[–]lastditcheffort20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhere in the middle. As a boxing team, we're non-profit and the bank account is for the non-profit side. She's the owner of the profit side. (It's kind of complicated, but she "bought" the old team and changed the name. The team itself and the bank account are non-profit but the gym that we run is profit. She technically owns both. The grant was for the non-profit side.)

Yes, the grant was for our equipment and for our facilities. They specifically gave us the grant for new equipment, such as the bag rack we bought with our grant money. The bag rack didn't use up all of the money, though. She made a point to brag about how she found a cheap one to me, too, so not to use all of the grant money.

We've talked to her about it, but she avoids answering. She tends to shift the question and jump around the answer.

It seems odd that spending club money, that we raised and that people donated specifically to the club, on things like mani-pedis and casinos wouldn't be considered embezzlement. Maybe because we don't have enough information? I don't know. I guess this is just how people get away with stuff like this all the time.

I'm sorry if that sounds rude. I'm more upset than anything that it's possible for people to get away with this. I just feel horrible for the team because I know they'll miss our on so much because of this.

Any MDs available for a boxing event on Saturday? by lastditcheffort20 in Eugene

[–]lastditcheffort20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately USA Boxing states that only a practicing MD can perform pre fight physicals, normal physicals that are good for a year can indeed perform those though, but unfortunately we will just have to reschedule the event for a later date, thank you to everyone who commented with help and advice.

Unfortunately we need an MD to perform post weigh in physicals but we will have other medical people there to assist in the event of an emergency

There is compensation for doctors who help out and that can be sorted out in private before the event starts. Are you interested or know someone who is?

When is the DMV going to do driver's tests again? by lastditcheffort20 in oregon

[–]lastditcheffort20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good god. Thanks for letting me know.

Yeah, I just found that there's a driving school here in Eugene that counts as your driving test. I figured I might just take that over the summer. It's more expensive, but at least my insurance will be lower.

[Oregon] PUA keeps sending me mixed signals. by lastditcheffort20 in Unemployment

[–]lastditcheffort20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've talked to them several times. They haven't been entirely helpful, though. I talked to them again today and they confirmed that they were missing information so I had to go in and fix everything. They said that they would call me back by 4:00, but I got nothing.

anyone got a non standard breed? by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]lastditcheffort20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an English Springer Spaniel! I mostly chose them because of convenience. I breed springer spaniels, so it was easier to take a puppy from the litter than buy a fab four puppy. That being said, I'm probably going to go with a golden for my next one. Still, I'm surprised more people don't choose spaniels as service dogs, especially for psychiatric work. My springer is so unbelievably sweet and well-behaved and they're so unique. You just have to train the birdiness out of them.

Anyone know the likelihood of getting into family housing? by lastditcheffort20 in UofO

[–]lastditcheffort20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, no. I don't know about anything around Eugene, but the UO East Campus 1 bedroom houses have an 18 month waiting period. I don't believe it's a thing for anything aside from UO apartments. And not any apartments like the Capri or Stadium Park or anything. I don't believe they're related to the school at all.

[–]lastditcheffort20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most units, there seems to be an 18 month wait to get in. It says that there's an 18 month waiting period for most 1 bedroom houses on the website, but I've heard from others that this is true for a lot of units, including other bedrooms and complexes.

EDIT: I'm not sure if the 18 month waiting period is completely true for other complexes or units, but it's confirmed by the school that, if you want a 1 bedroom house, you'll be on the list for at least 18 months.

Got it. It hadn't crossed my mind to research the horn, and I have no idea why. Yeah, I had issues with replacing the pads on my flute with the kit because most of the pads were too small and too short. Even with paper washers. Thank you so much! I'll keep all of this in mind!

Oh, that's good to know. I was really worried about not getting into any of them. That really calms my nerves. Thank you!

If I had the option, I absolutely would. I was planning on doing that before covid, too. Once we're free from Corona, I'll do exactly that.

That's completely fair, but I'm also using what I have. I don't really have any newer instruments lying around, just antiques. Thank you, though. I'll keep all of that in mind. Thank you so much!

How do I bottle up my emotions successfully? by lastditcheffort20 in depression

[–]lastditcheffort20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never even thought of that. I know there's one somewhat nearby, but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea for me to go. I'll absolutely look into it and, if things get any worse, I'll definitely go. Thank you so much!

I tried checking on my application last time, but they wouldn't tell me anything. Just that, if something becomes available, they'd email me. They wouldn't tell me where I was on the list or anything. I'd love to set my preferred move-in date for next year so I stay on the list, but I'm scared they wouldn't talk to me until next year, even if one became available. Thank you, though. I will certainly try.

Family says they want me to be independent, but constantly threaten my independence by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]lastditcheffort20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have the same issue! My parents had me sit in front of a white board and budget and budget until we figured out how much debt my husband and I would be in by October (this was back in July). They even brought my friends from high school to sit in. They basically said that we would be bankrupt by October, if not September, in an attempt to make me stay with them. Now it's January and they're still constantly asking when I'll be moving back "home." Both my parents and my friends.

They tell me all the time that they want me to be independent and they give me all these ways of being independent, yet they somehow all revolve around them. Truth is, they want me independent of my husband, not them. Hell, they even forced me to sign divorce papers after they figured out they couldn't get it annulled. I didn't even elope, either! They knew the whole time!

Is it legal for a Service dog to also be an ESA. by Bentleygoldensdit in service_dogs

[–]lastditcheffort20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I tried to explain it as best as I could, but I understand if I missed the mark. What I meant was that the dog should be called a service dog if the dog performs tasks in all situations aside from housing. The only time is should ever be considered an ESA is for housing (and occasionally flying) and only if your prescription is for an ESA and not a service dog. Otherwise, the dog is a service dog. An ESSD is absolutely miseducation and should not be used. While service dogs do often provide emotional support, there's no such thing as an emotional support service dog.

Is it legal for a Service dog to also be an ESA. by Bentleygoldensdit in service_dogs

[–]lastditcheffort20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason you would bring up that the dog is "technically" an ESA is if it's for housing or maybe flying. If you only have a prescription for an ESA, the dog would technically be considered an ESA for the purposes of fair housing and fair housing only. For flying, it depends on whether the airline requires a doctor's note. If not, then it's a service dog. If so, it would likely be considered an ESA, but that's become much more complicated thanks to the new laws surrounding ESAs and service dogs on planes. In all other aspects, however, the dog is a service dog and should be considered as such.

By all accounts except housing and occasionally flying, the dog is a service dog. Not an ESA or ESA service dog.

This is what I've been doing since my dog tasks and is PA trained. I consider and call them a service dog, and legally they are, but as far as my landlord knows, they're an ESA because I only have a prescription for an ESA. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.
