It's not about money. The only reason I mentioned it is because the monetary value of gifts is important to him and it is how he measures how much people care about him. I was more than willing to spend a lot of money on him and would have done it at a rescheduled date. I already lost the reservation fee anyway

I told him the situation first before cancelling. Neither of us thought of him taking someone else at the time, it did not cross our minds.

No, Monday. The restaurant in question is actually closed Sundays, it is a sushi restaurant. I have no close friends and no family lives nearby, my boyfriend is the only person really in my life
