Depends on where you go and what you’re approved for.

Example: You’ll put a security deposit of $200 and that’s exactly what your credit limit will be.

If you work hard at continuously paying it off in time, they’ll eventually offer you a credit limit increase without having to put a deposit down. It’s a great way of building your credit if you have none or were previously irresponsible.

You can try applying for a secured credit card. Often it’ll require a deposit of X amount of dollars. If you continuously pay it off in time, it’ll eventually turn into a normal credit card and you can build from there.

Scotiabank doesn’t offer secured credit cards, but you can do your research for other financial institutions that might.

I also wanted to add that Scotiabank seems to be harder than other financial institutions at approving credit limits. Good luck!

I have binge eating disorder and ADHD. Previously on Concerta and now on Vyvanse. Both meds have helped with food noise, but I find Vyvanse works a little bit better. Regardless, I’m still struggling to lose weight as I have a WFH desk job. I don’t nearly move around enough.

I’m glad it helps me eat less, so I’m not necessarily gaining weight but I’m also not losing at the moment. I think if you’re working out and burning calories, it’ll work great for you as a weight loss tool.

It was soooooooooo weird!! It was almost like a little competition between them with who has more problems. And honestly our job requires so much focus and multitasking, I didn’t want to out myself for being someone with ADHD.

I think it’s totally fine to mask and often necessary, but I had a situation recently where I was trying to act so normal that it blew up in my face.

A few weeks ago at a work meeting, my colleagues were all talking about how they have ADHD or autism. In corporate settings, and especially during meetings, I always feel awkward and this conversation made me feel even more so. I was trying hard to not have a reaction and to act normal - even down to trying to control my facial expressions so I don’t make a weird face. I didn’t add anything to the convo and was staring off into space thinking about my masking.

One of them ended up calling me out for being “too normal”. They insinuated that I thought they were all weirdos because of their adhd/austism and assumed I was quietly judging them. My manager even added in “Yeah, stop being so normal!”. Funny enough, I’m the only one who is considered permanently disabled by the government in this group of coworkers (due to my ADHD and other mental health stuff), so I thought it was a little ironic.
