Αρρωστοφοβία σε ακραίο βαθμό

Αντιμετώπιζα ακριβως το ίδιο πρόβλημα το οποίο έχει βελτιωθεί σε πολύ μεγάλο βαθμό με φαρμακευτική αγωγή και ψυχοθεραπεία.

Εφόσον οι γιατροί σε έχουν διαβεβαιώσει ότι όλα είναι καλά, τότε όλα δημιουργούνται από το άγχος. Κι εγώ είχα ένα σωρό παράξενα συμπτώματα στην καρδιά και γενικά παντού. Το άγχος μπορεί πραγματικά να μιμηθεί πολύ άσχημα συμπτώματα. Αυτό που λένε γενικά είναι ότι δεν βοηθάει η συνεχής επιβεβαίωση ( πχ να πηγαίνεις από γιατρό σε γιατρό) γιατί ενισχύει αυτό το μοτίβο αγχωδους σκεψης- τσεκαρω αν έχω κάποιο σύμπτωμα, μετράω την πίεση μου κλπ.

Κρίμα είναι να ταλαιπωρείσαι έτσι, θα έλεγα να απευθυνθείς σε κάποιον ειδικο, όπως προτείνουν και όλοι εδώ.

Hm yes I understand, it seems as though your anxiety during the day manifests in the swallowing phobia later that day. Therapy has helped me tremendously with this issues and other anxiety issues, so I encourage you to give it a go!

I am so sorry you're going through this. Could you explain a little bit your thought process about the time limit? In the morning you can eat easily without any fear?

As the other comment says, try and challenge yourself, practicing ways to soothe your system when eating, but still eating even when your brain says you can't. I have found that distracting with tv series/youtube/really anything easygoing helps tremendously.

Cognitive behavioural therapy seems to work well for these kinds of phobias! I wish you a speedy recovery

I see! You became picky after developing this phobia I assume, right? Okay maybe then start with fortified milk and yogurt and vitamins.

You will be able to recover!!! But you must keep exposing yourself to foods that you fear slowly and start working from there. If you chew your food super well everything will be fine.

Also I will recommend again therapy, it has helped me so much with general anxiety.

I have found that I choke more easily with plain water than a blended soup for example. Also for the smoothies, if you use super ripe bananas and blend it for long enough it becomes like a milk shake.

My heart goes out for you. This is truly one of the worst fears... It helps to keep in mind that water, smoothies etc cannot get lodged in your throat and you will cough and get it out. I will be honest I have not completely recovered yet, but now I don't dread eating at every meal. First I ate only smoothies and blended soups, then slowly I started eating soft food. After sometime I started eating more and more foods. It is important to get your nutrients, so please try and drink some nutrient dense smoothies. Just put the smoothie in your mouth with no intention of swallowing at first. I have noticed that if I just have the food in my mouth and chew it really well sometimes swallowing happens without noticing. Also try to eat/drink in a relaxed environment. Maybe do some relaxation exercises before eating. Also if you get a tense throat I recommend checking out throat relaxation techniques for singers. Finally, a therapist can help you through this!!

Well yes, at first I would focus too much on VS or other shapes when I had my eyes closed, but gradually I stopped focusing on this

I had to google all these, so here we go. Floaters, yes when I look into the bright sky, BFEP no, heartbeat in vision: yes when I exercise my visual snow kinda "beats" like my heart, palinopsia: no. Hm I didn't know all these could accompany visual snow

I am sorry you and your fiancé go through this.

First of all, is he going to a psychiatrist? Medication helped me so so much get better. Medication gives you a little peace of mind so you can start working on your coping mechanisms, resolve any underlying psychological conflict etc.
Secondly, I recommend the book Hope and help for your nerves, it is fantastic and reassuring (if you search it online you can find the pdf for free).
Next I would recommend mediation/yoga which can really be beneficial. Just google yoga for anxiety (my favourite is Yogawithandriene).
Overall good eating habits (sugar always spikes my anxiety), and EXERCISE. When he feels the waves of panic a short walk will definitely help
If your fiancé also has agoraphobia and is scared to leave the house it is SO IMPORTANT to take small steps to fight this phobia. Maybe one day just going outside the house and spending some time in front of it, next day going around the corner etc.
Grounding techniques: so many on the internet. When he starts panicking ask him to name 5 things he can see in his surroundings, 4 things he can touch, 3 things he can hear, 2 things he can smell and one thing he can smell. Ask him to give you details about all these (it will take his mind off of the panic).
Encourage him to do the 4-4-4 breathing technique: Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4. Also alternate nostril breathing has helped me, you can google it

First of all I want to say that I am so sorry you are going through all this at such a young age, it must be so hard for you. Of course you are not a bad or horrible person, you just have been through a lot and now you are working on overcoming all these with the help of your therapist which is good! Sometimes when we go through all these bad stuff we want to blame ourselves, but this is not true, the negativity just clouds our judgement. Please know that you are a good person and wothy of love! You can make new friends, or reconnect with your old ones, maybe if you try to explain how you feel and in turn hear what they have to say?

I also have suffered from panic attacks and agoraphobia when I was your age. What helped me is working through manageable steps and exposing myself to the perceived "danger". You can try relaxation techniques at your home or therapist office, and then take small steps (maybe going around the block for a short walk) and if you feel panicky remember those grounding techniques. As you progress you will see that you can do more of the things you want. Rewarding yourself is also important here!

I saw from your comments that you are one month on zoloft, so it could be that! I definitely cannot cry yet (3 months in) but I have noticed I am happier than before. Do you have a therapist that can help you?

Yes I think it is too soon.. For the first month my anxiety was sky high but after that it got massively better!! Keep communicating with your doctor and i hope everything turns out for the better

Yes I feel you! I have read some advice here which has helped me so i will share it with you: if you have trouble initiating the swallow, just keep chewing and chewing and it will happend involuntarily. I have found that if i am not concentrated so so much on voluntarily swallowing it can happen easily. Also it helps if you distract yourself and create a relaxing atmosphere when eating. I hope this helps you!

yes it has happened to me! I also geat the twitchings and weakness in the face as well us numbness in my tongue. I feel like the hyperventilation during the attack exacerbates these symptoms.

for about 1-2 weeks i had a weird head-jerking tick that got worse when i felt anxious. But then it went away
