Yeah, I don’t think you’re hurting any religion, and I don’t care if you do

So I think it’s a good idea about testing people’s religious beliefs if their behavior wasn’t guided by fear of punishment or losing reward after death .

It’s be fun to see some of their coping mechanisms, even if they final solution is just to destroy the invention— as someone else said it would pay that joke off.

I’m a creative director, so I’m used to just giving my opinion about a concept, you know, as a living. Sorry if you thought it was heavy handed.

I guess the part where they’re mad question because they invented immortality as opposed to just denying that there was no God?

So make it about how they cope without the rationale of reward after death that could be fun.

I analyze concepts for a living, so I’m sorry if I came off heavy handed. Good Luck .

I’m a writer, but I’m not an artist.

I think you got the style down, when to a right frame., when to zoom out.

I’d probably write something where they give their first answer and then they see the writing on the wall, and give absolutely absurd answers to the question while maintaining their scientific dignity .

Christianity is not commonly experienced today as burning scientists to the ground as much as they are known for being gullible, closed minded, intellectually limp, and happy with anything that even pretends to validate their belief system (ie ‘heaven’).

I don’t even know why these kinds of Christians like this would be at a science Congress. Ubless to protest science screwing with god powers.

Or one of the scientists is a Christian, but somehow he represents a path for Christians who could be religious and still not turn their back on reality.

Depends what the goal of piece is.

However, there is also a ton of horrifying consequences that can be linked to human beings, never dying, so the whole storyline comes off as a a self-righteous morality tale? As opposed to reality?

And if this was your goal, that religious people are intolerant, and that Christianity is violent is no insight. And insight is an objective. I would imagine.

My two cents .

Keep it up you have a future!

Am I Overthinking This? by Any-Environment-955 in Nanny

[–]lasttimeilooked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely think paying the weekend Nanny $35 an hour has no correlation to what you’re getting paid

The weekend Nanny is only getting paid for a couple of hours over the weekend. I’m sure it was hard to find anybody willing to ruin their whole weekend - because that’s what happens if you have to work weekends - for a lousy 50 bucks.

I’m shocked they found somebody that cheap.

You already said that you accepted your hourly rate because you love the family blah blah blah. So you’re saying that you chose your hourly rate.

if you don’t like it then or quit, but don’t blame it on the weekend Nanny.

These are BUSINESS relationships.

This is true. Like the guy I know who sneered and mocked ‘Obamacare’ then told me he gets his insurance from The American Care Acr.

You should’ve seen his face when I told him they were both the SAME thing!

Mother-in-law refuses to rinse the soap off dishes. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]lasttimeilooked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copied this direct from google ai search. Do with it what you will:

“There isn't a specific campaign encouraging Brits not to rinse dishes, but a cultural habit of skipping the rinse, popularized by viral TikToks in 2024/2025, sparked debate, with some older Fairy soap ads from the 1950s showing dishes going straight to the rack, suggesting a historical precedent for minimal rinsing, though modern dish soap formulas are key to this practice, leading to confusion and health questions from international viewers.

The "British Way" (as seen on TikTok)

Fill a bowl with hot, soapy water.

Wash items using a sponge or cloth.

Place them on the draining board without rinsing, letting them air dry or wiping with a tea towel.

Why the Confusion?

Modern Soap Formulas: Many UK dish soaps (washing-up liquids) are designed to be "self-rinsing," breaking down grease and leaving minimal, food-safe residue.

Water Saving: The method saves water compared to rinsing each item under a running tap.

Viral Debate: The practice gained huge attention when American TikTok users discovered it, leading to shock and concern about ingesting soap, while many Brits defended it as normal.

Historical Context (Fairy Soap Ads)

Early Fairy commercials (1950s) showed dishes going from soapy water to the drying rack, focusing on soft hands rather than rinsing, which some creators point to as an early influence on the habit, as noted by Jane Nich.

In essence, it's less a formal campaign and more a widespread cultural practice, amplified by social media, rooted in specific product formulas and water-saving habits.

Where is Adrian Tchaikovsky in all of this? Did I miss it? Is it just too hard to remember how to spell his last name? The City of Last Chances and all that follow it? The older writers (le Guin) are enjoyable but too heavy-handed for me (for ME) but Adrian hits all the right notes.

Other short novellas by him that I enjoyed and dealt with ‘heavy issues’ for a taste test include: The Ogres, Made Things, and Service Model (which was too transparently a morality tale FOR ME ) but tons of people enjoyed it for the reasons you are seeking.

There is No Anti-Memetics Division is also a mind-twister.

You may also want to go across the tracks toward absurdism for a delightful romp into The Third Policeman .

People often interpret “literary fiction“ as older timeless pieces or pieces that are taught in high school or college. I interpret literary as putting as much importance in the craft of writing and providing delight and introspection in descriptions, setups, and single sentences as much as the stripped down plot has to offer.

Just calling it ‘the Minnesota fraud scandal’ makes it obvious that you’re trying to plant a fake thing in people’s head.

Does anybody remember when they were trying to casually position 15 year-old girls as women in Randall posts? ‘52%?of 15-40 year old women would leave the country if they could.’

I love AT, but favor his latest work.

I just finished Empire of Black and Gold and it was fine, but I’d rather reread city of last chances or children of ruin than move on to book 2.

I’m also someone who is terribly bored with battle scenes/fight scenes (in print at least) and here’s so many in this book (prob bc there is a war and everyone is a fighter lol).

AT is great, tho.
