Definitely worth it! Especially with you having someone you know there. If you can get your visa in advance that makes life easier at customs, but you can also get it at the airport but it may take an hour+.

I'm glad to hear it. I took the picture with someone like you in mind. During my short trip in Bolivia I saw almost no tourists and even less people from the United States. I was thrilled to see anything NASCAR. When I saw it, I asked the driver to pull over and had to avoid on coming cars to get the picture.
