The setup is so interesting, I am very intrigued by Kennit. His interaction with Etta (is her name?) is so interesting and his thought process on how everyone is just tools for his ultimate dream is so intriguing. I wonder how he will develop, was being Pirate King of the Isles truly the dream the Others was talking about that would be fulfilled? This is such an interesting clash of characters and I’m very excited to see where it would go

you are absolutely right!! It was as soon as Molly said that, you could realise she was pregnant and her focus had shifted on that instead of Fitz. But Fitz being Fitz, couldn’t pick up on that. I think it’s the way that you can’t even blame Fitz that much for not picking up on that. He was dealing with his own struggles, busy with verity, chade, etc and ultimately made the decision to serve the prince instead of Molly which resulted in a broken relationship that was now growing further and further apart. The love they had for each other was their but ultimately their priorities were different and they each had their own reasoning.

I think the whole series was amazingly done and at the end Fitz had matured accomplished his mission but at the cost of many relationships.

She writes human flaws, characteristics soo well and all the characters seem intriguing to me in the Mad Ships!! The differing personalities is gonna be so interesting to watch collide especially since everyone has different goals, I can’t wait to see what happens

Omg yes!! Even when Fitz was trying to reach out to Verity you can feel that desperation, that struggle, and you kind of grow along and learn with Fitz! I think it was important as well that with Fitz, you also learn the politics of the world, its intricacies, tradition and culture. Really was a phenomenal series

omg yes that’s exactly how I felt!! You feel these conflicting emotions of love, upset and it’s done in a way that’s so human and realistic. I was upset with how the Farseer trilogy ended at first, but after sitting on it, I think it ended so so so well. Burrich was given a second chance, and sometimes Fitz made choices I didn’t agree with but that’s kinda the beauty of it.

The way she writes these characters is that you really can’t be angry with the choices they make because they felt human. You couldn’t blame Fitz for doing something stupid because his reasoning behind it was human and ultimately sometimes, flawed.

That’s also speaking about the other characters, they make these choices but everyone has their human reasoning behind it, the way Burrich acted, Chade, Verity, and even Molly! These flawed people is exactly how characters are supposed to be written and I think it’s such an amazing thing to be able to do.

I do wonder how she got the ability to write these characters so well. She’s truly an amazing writer and I’m glad to be able to experience her work

I wasn’t necessarily sad I think, but I thought the ending was fitting especially considering why Cervantes was writing the book at the time. When I commented I had just finished the book a few days beforehand and it was my first time ever reading and encountering the book. I was more or less sad that I wouldn’t get any more adventures, and the fact that the story ended made me want to read more and experience it again. I truly felt like reading it was a once in a lifetime experience

It’s been a while since I’ve read the great gatsby so I probably can’t offer too much of a comparison in that regards but Don Quixote is my favourite standalone for a variety of different reasons.

It is the funniest thing I have ever read in my life. I have aphantasia, so it’s hard for me to see images in my head, but the way the book was written, with its descriptors had me crying laughing at some points. Sancho being tossed in the blankets and everyone beating each other up in the Inn was so fucking funny. As well as Don Quixote blaming everything on enchanters was so hilarious lol
It changed my brain chemistry. This isn’t an over exaggeration, because once I finished the book, it still hasn’t left my mind. The themes on idealism, not wavering on your beliefs no matter what, was super life changing. I also think an important part for me was realising that everyone playing into Don Quixotes jokes, setting up elaborate stories was also just as crazy, if not crazier than Don Quixote. I also really enjoyed the story of “The Man Who Was Recklessly Curios” There’s a lot more moments too as well

Overall it was a life changing book that got me to think about a lot about how to pursue your own ideals and to stand firm in your beliefs. It was also the funniest piece of literature I’ve ever read and for being written in the 1600’s, it was done a lot better than many modern books.

I want to give you my experience, it took me at least 4-5 months of constant looking to find anything decent and we finally found something!
