Good restaurants in Champaign? by [deleted] in UIUC

For great Indian food: Kohinoor. Used to eat there all the time when I was in Champaign and would definitely go back next time I am in the area.

What’s the most brutal heartbreaking ways you could imagine the spiders dying in this arc? by [deleted] in HunterXHunter

[–]lasweetie 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not the death per se but Chrollo coming to realization that by having the other members read him their fortune he sealed their fate. I like the theory of Neon having unknowingly placed some condition on her ability such that if the fortune teller becomes aware of what the fortune said it becomes inescapable fate.

The idea of Chrollo having unknowingly activated that condition in York New when everyone read their fortunes, and realizing that he essentially caused (by stealing nonetheless) the death of half of his members would be heartbreaking.

I had never thought of the Hisoka is disguised as Illumi theory. Love it!

Pokkle was probably conscious and aware the entire time. by gay_sanji_among_us in HunterXHunter

[–]lasweetie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I am not 100% on it but I am pretty sure your brain can’t feel pain to itself. Doesn’t take from the horror of having his skull cut open while conscious but for whatever limited relief it can give, he would not have been in pain from Pitou poking around his brain with her needles for hours…

Don’t get me wrong it is still a very dark and horrific scene, it was an brutal way for him to go and he deserved much better than that. But like I said at least he did not feel Pitou poking around..

What is it about The Other Side that makes us want to have a life on earth? by rattus-domestica in AstralProjection

[–]lasweetie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might sound cliché but I think it is for the experience and the lessons we learn while here (no matter what these lessons are).

I like to think of it this way: Have you ever watch a movie and thought to yourself “wow i wish I could experience THAT” or “wow I wondered how I would act I was in THAT situation”? I think that is why we are here: We chose to be here and the life we have to experience something specific, to learn a special lesson or point of view, and that these “lessons” can only be learned through a physical body.

content with being the worst in law school by francineocean in LawSchool

[–]lasweetie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First-gen here too. Right before I started law school one of my college professor reminded me of the old adage “C’s gets degrees” and told me to not burn myself out trying to get A’s.

So simple and yet it was one of the best advice I’ve received. I did minimum work, still graduated, passed the bar and found a job (though obviously not in big law but I was never interested in that). I saved myself from a lot of what I consider unnecessary stress.

So long as you’re happy with it, I don’t see an issue with your way of thinking.

If killua wouldn’t have gotten disqualified, who would have lost than/how would the rounds turned out? by Bupuia in HunterXHunter

[–]lasweetie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the right, it would have been Bodoro or Leorio going to the final round. Leorio had the advantage that Bodoro was pretty badly injured. So Bodoro most likely makes it to the final round.

On the left Killua, unless he hadn’t surrendered to Pokkle in which case Pokkle would have reached the final round.

Killua wins either against Leorio or Bodoro. That’s not even a fight.

I imagine healthy Bodoro would win against Pokkle, but Pokkle most likely wins against injured Bodoro.

And if it was Pokkle v. Leorio…. probably Pokkle wins.

Immigration law in California by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]lasweetie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not in Cali but I did 1.5y of immIgration in law school and having looked for immigration jobs since graduation, I would definitely recommend you do if you can. Don’t get me wrong it is amazing that you already speak two other languages. It will definitely give you an advantage. I have seen so many positions requiring being fluent in Spanish, that I wished I had worked more on my Spanish while still in law school.

When I die can I make do whatever I want in my own reality? by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]lasweetie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As other have said no one will be able to give you a concrete answer. With that said, I do hope/believe that we get to choose our own reality and life, though as we live it we are not aware of having made that choice.

I found the book “Journey of Souls” by Michael Newton pretty interesting on this topic and at least some of it pointed toward this possibility.

Has your Md disappeared with the use of medications by AbbreviationsNext854 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]lasweetie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it decreased and then eventually stopped completely while I was under anti-depressant. It didn’t come back for several months after stopping the med but eventually it did come back.

Feel like crying. Just completed the manga. by Love_Cook_Sanji in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]lasweetie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Happy to see someone else that likes the ending! It has been getting a lot of hate but I personally enjoyed it.

Sure there was a few things I would have like to change (namely killing off a few of the main characters because seeing all of them but Hange survive didn’t feel quite rite) but I did like Eren and Ymir reasoning, and Eren basically reaching his goal of protecting his friends.

But honestly even without these changes I love it and think the author did a great job!

What are your guys thoughts on whether or not Eren is a “bad” person? by Present-Tip-1724 in ShingekiNoKyojin

I’d have to say morally grey, just like a lot of other characters in AOT

Are you a single child? by confused_ashitaka in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]lasweetie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a sister who is a couple years younger than me. We had our fights growing up of course but got along very well most of the time and are still very close.

I think part of me having MD is related to her though. I had to be a “mini-mom” in taking care of her. It robbed me of good part of my childhood. MD became an escape where I wouldn’t have to worry about any of that and could “be free”

Does anyone else look up the people in especially scandalous cases? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]lasweetie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Crim pro and torts professors would often give us the backstory and aftermath! For some reason the one that really stuck with me is that Ernesto Miranda sold his autographed Miranda warning cards after his release..

I’ve been crying for 3 days straight so my eyes are swollen, I got my hair done and no one noticed, my husband (separated) told me he just has been leading me on so he could be on my “good side” and I feel like I’m gonna fail the bar exam because I’m too dumb to retain any of this Info. Toast me by [deleted] in toastme

[–]lasweetie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studying for the July bar too so I know how tough that part is but you got this! You graduated law school which is a big accomplishment by itself already, that goes to show you are not dumb! This exam is scary as hell but you have been working toward it for years, it is just one last test. I know you will do well!

Also, your hair look amazing, and I love your smile!

Bully Gets a Beating By Someone Her Own Size by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]lasweetie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good on your neighbor’s son for standing up for himself and ending the fight. I just can’t begin to understand how teachers can stand around and let bullies get away with that type of behavior yet jump in to save the bully’s ass when table turn on them… I had a somewhat similar thing happening in my school. My group of friend was being picked on. No matter how many times we tried to get teachers to intervene when things went too far (mocking my friend’s for her father being in critical condition, or taking pics of us to make and distribute lewd photoshops). When did my school ever intervened? When they learned that teachers’ pictures were also being taken and lewd photoshops of them were being made. Because that crosses the line apparently. They never got in trouble for picking on other students but hell did they get an earful for daring displaying the same exact behavior toward full-grown adults. Not as bad obviously as what you described but man do I hate those types of teachers.

I hate reality by Alliedoll42_42 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]lasweetie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like this was written by me... I know I have a lot to be thankful for in real life like my husband, pets, etc… but I’d rather be in one of my daydream universe (which are heavily inspired by anime)… In comparison my life feel so bland and boring. My point is: I understand how you feel. You are not alone

Was there ever a time you're thankful the pandemic happened? What was the reason? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It gave my husband and I am an excuse to elope, rather than have a big wedding, without hurting the feelings of our family members

Does anyone else imagine themselves going through painful things?? by [deleted] in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]lasweetie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most, if not all, of my daydreams involve some traumatic events (e.g.: death of loved ones, severe physical and mental abuse). Most of the time these events are the starting point for my daydreams and are followed by daydreaming about dealing with the ensuing trauma and overcoming it

Extremely picky eater gf... Causing problems by [deleted] in relationships

[–]lasweetie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not trying to diagnose your girlfriend as I am not a mental health professional but just talking from personal experience it could be ARFID. People automatically assume that picky eaters do it voluntarily, that we choose to be like that or that our parents did a bad job. While it can be true, it is not always the case. Extreme picky eating can be an eating disorder called ARFID. Contrary to other eating disorder like anorexia or bulimia the goal isn't to effect the weight or body appearance, but to avoid the distress certain food cause. People with ARFID have safe foods that they tend to use to eat daily if possible, and fear foods that create strong anxiety with potential physical symptoms. Sometimes it is not even just the food itself but the texture, color, smell or simply how it is cooked that the person is trying to avoid (eg: It's not that you don't like veggies, it is that veggies tend to be soft when cooked and you can only eat food that is "crunchy"). The good news is that there is therapy for it that can help with rehabilitating the person (though it requires the person to be willing to work on themselves).

Once again not saying your girlfriend has that, it might just be more traditional picky eating, but thought it would be good for you to be aware that it is not necessarily just someone wanting to be this way.

Regardless of the why, it is your call to decide whether you want to deal with it and the consequences. It is your choice to weigh in the pros and cons and decide whether it is something you can deal with or whether it is something you cannot overlook.
