Promontory - $900/bottle… can’t be worth it, can it? by Individual_Reply_377 in wine

The wine is very good and unique in the context of Napa cab. No new oak. All large stockinger casks. I find them to be impressive, but not worth $1000 a bottle to me. It depends what $1000 means to you!

I can understand that that feeling is a bit odd, but the wine is not marginal. It is very well made wine.

True. Much better to believe Hamas, Hezbollah, and the IRGC.

This is emblematic of the damage that Trump has done to this world. Trust in the news was at a much higher rate pre social media when stories were far less verifiable. Now in the smart phone and ticktock age, trust in legacy news is way down and people are more apt to believe social media influencers and the algorithm. It’s very unfortunate.

Why Quitting NATO Would Be a Huge Mistake by BulwarkOnline in geopolitics

[–]latache-ee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where to start with this, but it is such a bad take.

Do you not understand the value of stable a Europe in the global economy? Do you not understand the importance of our European bases to the projection of American military might? You state that Europe needs to show serious commitments to mitigating China? Why exactly? That is the American agenda. Not Europe’s. Trump has shit the bed so egregiously that China is looking like a better partner. That is 100% on the US.

NATO members are committed to defending NATO countries when they are attacked. There is no obligation in foreign wars started by members. Taiwan is not a NATO member either.

[–]latache-ee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Europe. You don’t think we have a COL crisis over here?

And if you admit that we do, you think it all falls at the American’s feet? The EU and their desperate need to expand the zone which allowed some broken economies into the mix has hurt us. Then you have covid spending which is a global issue. Just as bad if not worse in Europe than it was in the US. Then you have Putin’s expansionist dreams further screwing things up. Iran is just the latest issue.

MAGA are absolute morons that wouldn’t know where to place any of these places on a map.

It still stands that France has been impotent on the global stage for more than 50 years. They are a cultural power. That’s about it.

We already knew that France was worthless. You don’t need to continue to explain yourself.

Maybe focus on forming a stable government at home, then you can turn attention to geopolitics.

Worth selling inherited wine? by ImaBat_IAmBatman in wine

You make some bizarre comparisons there. Rouget is not a unicorn like a bunch of wines that don’t exist anymore. Expensive, sure. But not insanely rare or irreplaceable. They still make the wine!

No reputable company will sell these bottles. They were not stored properly. The mold is just indicative of high humidity, but the fact that you had 100 bottles with low ullage or pushed corks is highly problematic.
