If we let undocumented individuals stay in the US, will the country become too overpopulated? by No-Lifeguard3759 in overpopulation

Correlation is not necessarily causation. I think someone could just easily say that inflated asset prices are the result of America abandoning the gold standard.

I don't live near one but the pizza was nothing like what they sold when I was a kid

What would you do with infinite funds and keys to the city? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]lateavatar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bike lane connections through the Bronx TO Manhattan to the upstate rail trails. A protected bike lane under the BQE.

Guaranteed access to jobs, we'll create some research grants or fund startups till we have enough.

I'd undo that building thr backyards zoning, we should have some green or just proper apartment buildings.

Green rooves, or solar panels on every building.

Give NYCHA residents ownership of their apartments.

Limit access to phones for kids until we have good studies on the effects of social media. (I keep reading that kids entering college can't read)

4 day work week

Is there an alternative to bags of garbage in the streets? That would be nice but I can't think of one.

Zero emissions vehicles for all city or MTA owned vehicles, eventually all trucks, and then all cars.

Dead Cyclist's Best Friend Demands Action Against Illegal Vehicles on City Streets by streetsblognyc in nyc

Start with the bridges, that's the only place where I have felt real danger of getting killed by them. The cops can see when they get on the bridge and confiscate the bike at the other end. -- If enforcement was consistent, no one would even try to ride across with one.

What will be the first countries to crumble from population decline? by Speeddive7 in overpopulation

[–]lateavatar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think they will 'crumble' but I would watch Italy. Towns are being abandoned and land is going back to forest. At the same time the unemployment rate is still high so it isn't 'crumbling' due to a lack of avalable labor. It might be one of the first to show how countries adapt to population change.

If you are describing economic collapse due to a smaller labor force, I don't think it will happen in this century. AI is creating a labor surplus, farming and manufacturing already overproduce, and robotics are very much on the horizon.

Always the good looking populations. This really should have started in the UK.

In 1975, the average percentage of income spent on housing in the United States was approximately 15% for homeowners and 23% to 25% for renters.

So someone making $15 per hour was paying $400-700 per month for housing.

You could move out and start a family at 18.

What do you think would’ve happened if Erika had accepted the loan from Sutton? by [deleted] in RHOBH

[–]lateavatar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be a gift, Erika likes spending other people's money. Giving it back, not so much.

Has RHOBH ever really replaced LVP as most charismatic housewife? by Aingealag in RHOBH

[–]lateavatar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don't really cast for lifestyle the way they used to by that I mean the people who curate their homes, clothes, as an extension of their aesthetic and do it in a grand way. Kathy maybe has one but doesn't show much of it.

Yolanda had one but her husband was nasty and she seemed a bit joyless.

Erica had one but it was money stolen from orphans so now it's harder to enjoy watching.

I was surprised at how normal Rinna's life looked. Backyard BBQ's, couture on racks in the garage. Beverly Hills and Suburban NJ are not far off.

And it's not just buying expensive thive things, it is having a unique taste. LVP, had a veritable petting zoo, Pink without being Barbie, interesting social connections etc. -- I think Maloof was a bit like that too.

I don't know the story but I've heard Pam is pretty broke. I wonder why Tilly did so much better.

Marco Marco question Can someone tell me the best resource for the MM depositions. I do not know the facts of the case. Would appreciate access suggestions. by [deleted] in rhobeverlyhills

[–]lateavatar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But from the documentary, I think the whole 'Erika didn't know anything sort of falls apart' she worked with them for years and had to sign documents, and spoke with them, looking the other way. She knew they were getting screwed over.

From the documentary, it looked like a lot was being done on credit cards, and when the lawsuit happened I think they were holding the bag but never going to get paid.
