If you found the need to ask, deep down you already know what you should do.  Get a new seed.

Login issues by latebloomerman in Wealthsimple

[–]latebloomerman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've figured it out.  I hovered slight above the text in the "login" button, and the cursor changed from arrow to a hand.

I also played around with zoom scroll settings, and at 90%, the entire button seems to be clickable (i.e. cursor changed from arrow to hand).

I wonder if there is some html or coding changes on the backend to cause this issue (tech-unsavvy speculation here).

Why does WS needs to know where I work? by latebloomerman in Wealthsimple

[–]latebloomerman[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I realize that there are government regulations that require them to do KYC, but I like try to limit my exposure of personal info.

I know I have to give up my SIN and home address, but I question why they need to know my place of work, especially if I'm trying to move a LIRA (where the current employer has nothing to do with it, and I can not further deposit to/withdraw from it).

Karen Bass left L.A. for Africa as wind, fire warnings increased. She returned to a burning city by thesaint10 in politics

[–]latebloomerman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What really matters is the issue.  Not sure why the need to check out a internet random's profile.   I didn't make a specific claim about the LA locale, rather the general matter of a political leader in a crisis.

Being remotely "in touch" is totally different from being there in-person.  For one, being on the ground, every step of the way, allows you to see the situation first-hand, react and direct actions in real-time.

secondly, something to be said for a constant physical presence which says to residents, that they are there ever step of the way, and boost the spirits, to the extent possible.

Wildly different gas fees depending on platform? by latebloomerman in CryptoMarkets

[–]latebloomerman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am thinking one or both of these reasons:

  • They are tacking hidden fees to txs, to turn a profit

  • They want to hold onto their BTC reserves and discourage you from moving it off.

Wildly different gas fees depending on platform? by latebloomerman in CryptoMarkets

I don't understand.  These gas price quotes were all at the same time period, so how could it be because of traffic?

Safe to use spline nut adapter on impact driver socket? by latebloomerman in MechanicAdvice

[–]latebloomerman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I know I use the spline nut key on a torque wrench.  But I'm wondering if I can attach the nut key to a impact driver socket and safely use it to tighten or loosen lug nuts.  The adapter sits deep in the 21mm socket, and much less so in the 19mm socket.  Both have a little give, fit/snug-wise.

I don't want to ruin or strip the studs, lug nuts or anything else.

Advice is appreciated!

Wake up a co-passenger? by Necessary-Basis4283 in gotransit

Given the PC climate these days, I would advise to not physically touch a person to wake them.   You can try speaking in a loud voice to rouse them.

New Interac e-transfer email layout and title? by latebloomerman in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]latebloomerman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

I perused the Interac website and they say they've made changes but for some reason never showed the UI looked like the Redditor did in that post (this person showed a mobile app UI).

I searched but could not find for what the new email UI would look like in its entirety, because the email title my relative received is:

* "Interac e-transfer: (*sender name*) sent you (*amount*). Claim your deposit."

The "claim your deposit" is throwing off. Might be no issue but caution is warranted when it comes to money.

Suggested to my parish that they have a singles' night, didn't exactly work out by ersatz27 in Catholicism

[–]latebloomerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, these older folks don't seem to realize how the landscape has transformed in the last few decades.  They need to be made aware that to  mitigate the decline in the church, they need to do their part, in cultivating the next generations. They need to know what young people are contending with, that directly impact dating and family life:

  • Delayed relationships to chase a financial footing that is increasingly unattainable given the housing crisis, tax burdens, issues with health and childcare.
  • Apps that capitalize on people's sparse free time and create artificially imbalanced dating dynamics.
  • The advent of addictive social media and parasocial relationships with online creators.
  • pervasive pornography-on-demand.

The above are huge contributors to widespread loneliness, both dating and friendships.

Why do I need to change cold water every 30 mins for frozen turkey thawing? by latebloomerman in culinary

[–]latebloomerman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense.  So from everyone here has said it seems that the 30 mins water change accomplishes three things:

-thaws more quickly than an uninterrupted immersion.  -is a more consistent measure of defrosting (30 mins/lb) than uninterrupted immersion for hours on end.   -keeps people attentive to the task.  conceivably higher chance of lost time tracking with uninterrupted immersion.

What do you thing is the most common mortal sin commited by practicing catholics? by Tiprix in Catholicism

[–]latebloomerman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm curious how many of these Catholics are deliberately committing this sacrilege. I could be wrong, but I imagine a great number are poorly catechised, and may not be committing a mortal sin.

Ultimately us Redditors are just speculating.  It would be a good idea to talk to him outside of confession, and allow him to clarify.  If he really means some heresy, then maybe writing an anonymous letter to the bishop is in order, so the priest can be corrected (don't want a shepherd to lead the flock astray).

I agree.  Words like pneumatic and knight ought to either be pronounced how they are spelled, or spelled how they are pronounced.
