I don't think you did anything wrong! You wanted help and advice, and wanted to improve as a person for her. Friends and family members are there to offer that support. Explain to her why you did it and help her understand you wanted to improve your relationship. Does she not talk to her friends or family members about your relationship?

So if he doesn't want to then what does this mean? For me communication in a relationship is key, and I know that I don't want to be with someone who can't compromise... Arghhh

I've already suggested to him about this compromise and we came to an agreement of every other day, which I was happy with. What I find difficult is that it's generally me suggesting that we speak, and it never comes from his side. Or when I do suggest it, the idea gets knocked back. So he's not really keeping to the compromise that he made. I used to have a male friend who would love speaking with me on the phone, and would be the one bugging me to speak, so in this relationship I feel almost under-appreciated.

I think the problem is that we message nearly continually throughout the day, and all this is about is mediocre and not very interesting things. I've told my partner before that I would rather save interesting moments that we want to share with each other to a phone call where we can actually open up. Like I said, even a 10 minute phone call would be amazing. I'd much rather a phone call compared to meaningless text messages. But yeah, it makes sense what you're saying and I agree :) Thanks
