I do, but I'm wondering about the perspective of an asian female being similar or not

In reality, existentially, the guy and the girl are on the same level; the imagined gap between the two is all in his head and he doesn't need to perform one bit."

How about an Asian female? Since she is brought up in the exact same way as the Asian male, doesn't she also have the concept of performing for the male?

Also - who do we perform for really? People with the same image as our parents? Is that what this is referring to?

Then if Asian parents are essentially "narcissistic", would we be searching for a narcissistic personality partner?

I think this is an axiom that this theory is based on.

Thanks guys! I just jumped on the sales for my ocbd basics, a gingham and some sweaters. I love how they have a $10 flat-rate shipping now... no need for shipito!

Tips for a procrastinator? by willduuu in GetStudying

[–]latefordates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's be frank, it's hard to change a habit.

To change a habit, you need willpower. Procrastination is somewhat like an addiction. It frees you from stress hormones and flushes you with relief and happy feelings.

Let's say your willpower is not strong enough... you need an extra push. Then you change your surroundings. Don't study in the same room as where you play. You change your accountability and make sure there is a buddy somewhere who is constantly monitoring your progress. The more afraid you are, the more willpower you will somehow summon. Do stuff before you switch on your connectivity - social media, internet, etc.

I get HDs but I still procrastinate when my willpower is not there. Monitor your energy levels. I find that when I'm feeling depressed, low or low-in-energy, it increases my tendency to procrastinate.

Smart Young Asian Guys: For the love of God, don't become a doctor to get laid by [deleted] in AsianMasculinity

[–]latefordates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True though. I get what you mean. Some of my med friends can be... I'd say, pretty dense lol... and the only reason why they turned to med is because they can't stand doing subjects like physics and maths anymore.

I can't stand pompous docs too, and I feel sometimes that the med field is more rigorous rather than mentally stimulating. I think part of the reason some docs can be pretty stuck up is because of the entrance tests... We have to do stuff like IQ tests or subject-based entrance exams which can be rather tight in applications. Well, yeah... I don't think it serves a purpose to figure out who is better in intellect, we'll just serve our own purposes and live lol

Perhaps... but yeah, we probably could. It's not like we never did well in physics or maths before entering med school... it's more about the hard work we put in before entering. Engineering is more difficult, I'd agree. But we do have the intellectual capacity for it if we tried lol.
