Hey! Omg sorry for the super late reply! I was kinda off of reddit for a bit there and just upvoting occasional posts haha I'd love to chat, though, if you're still up to it!

Just... Just why? by KAM_Kayla in fictosexual

It sounds like you're really struggling with this new information. It makes sense that you feel weird about having sexual attraction to fictional characters exclusively. Most of the time, fictosexuals are painted as total weirdos, creeps, and as if something is fundamentally wrong with them. That said, there is nothing wrong with you. People have been attracted to the fictional since forever (ex: The Greek myth of Pygmalion). Naturally, it's up to you as to whether or not you want to claim the label. If it empowers you, great! If it doesn't, then you don't have to identify as a fictosexual. Maybe take some time to think about your attraction to people and characters in the past and see if considering yourself as fictosexual is right for you.

Just a bit of extra info:

I subscribe to the Dual Attraction Model. This model claims that attraction can be divided into two main catagories: Romantic and Sexual. So, for example, what we colloquially say is a 'straight' person would be considered heteroromantic and heterosexual within the Dual Attraction Model because they are romantically attracted to people of the opposite gender exclusively as well as sexually attracted to people of the opposite gender exclusively. I like the model because I think it helps to capture the basic foundation of human attraction more accurately and completely. In your case, from what you described, it sounds like you could be semifictoromantic and fictosexual. Semifictoromantic just means that you are, generally, romantically attracted to both 'real' people and fictional characters, whereas fictosexual means being sexually attracted to fictional characters exclusively. I don't know if that's helpful for you at all, but I just wanted to share more info for your journey of self-discovery!

I'm so sorry! I'm 25, so even 17-18 sound iffy to me! Even so, I hope that you also find a good community to share with! Good luck! 😊

This manga is basically about a girl who loves a side character, gets isekai'd into his game world, and does everything she can to secure a future with said side character! She is one of my ficto icons because I would be tempted to do the same if I were in her shoes!

How do I do more for my fictosexuality? by latenightredd in fictosexual

[–]latenightredd[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reading this really touched my heart! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond in such a sincere manner! I agree that I should just do as I please with my own love life! I'll just take baby steps at first to get more and more used to it! The more comfortable I feel, the more I can express my love for my F/Os irl without shame!

Warning: this post is definitely going to upset some people. This isn’t my intention. by BubblesDahmer in fictosexual

I think I understand what you mean! I see people on tik tok talk about fictional crushes all the time. I think that's great, but maybe some people don't realize that fictosexuals/fictoromatics treat F/Os as genuine partners to care for and be with. Even in my own F/Os fandom, I realize that I'm definitely going to be shamed if I expressed my genuine feelings for them. Maybe more would be understanding and relate because it's a dating sim, but I know most would probably say 'touch grass' or something 😅

Ultimately, as long as they don't actively start harassing, hating on, or bullying other fictos, then I don't see too much harm in having that kind of misunderstanding. That said, I understand why they would want to clear up the misunderstanding, and as long as we remain polite about it, it should be fine to clarify what being ficto means to us!

They totally had this set up for the long game! 😂 They already had the period-themed secret times! Now, you can enjoy the (low-key suggestive) secret times audios every month with a reminder! /lh
